"Aghhhhhh," I screamed, pulling at my hair. This was the worst possible outcome! I shouldn't have come back here, I should have left him at the door like an orphan and ran. Now I am stuck with this newborn who has no idea that they are even a newborn.
I looked at the boy that I had now commanded to sit still. He was so easy to manipulate and force into obeying. When I was a newborn my master had nearly ended my life because of my stuborness. I walked closer to him, peering into his blue eyes, and sighed.
"This is more difficult than I thought," I said aloud. How do I tell someone that they are essentially non-human? In a mere day this boy had gone from a somewhat normal human life to joining the underworld. "I really don't know where to begin. Why don't you ask me a few questions?"
He looked at me with fear, "Are you going to kill me?"
"I wish I could," I answered honestly, "that would be a lot easier for the both of us. But, no, I am not going to kill you."
"Where are we?" He looked around the dark empty room, eying the door, his only exit.
"This is my room. We are in a castle of sorts. But it mostly works like a hotel for those traveling to see the Queen. Only few permanetly reside here." With that answer I was reminded of my old friend. "I think maybe you should meet some of them. They are probably better at explaining this sort of thing."
I called for Caroline, a vampire I had met when I was a human living within the castle. My master was infatuated with her, allowing us to quickly become friends.
"My dearest Amelia!" Shouted Caroline, bouncing up and down with her long blonde curls. She quickly grasped my shoulders and pulled me into a hug, "It has been too long."
"I see that you haven't changed much," I laughed, "And I see that you have taken a human companion?"
She giggled, "Micheal was orphaned when I found him Amelia, I would never support the Queens evil system. I hope you know that me turning you in was only for formalities. I had seen you sneaking in through the back with this newborn and with all of the politics around I had to tell the Queen of your arrival."
"Politics?" I questioned.
"Yes," she nodded seriously, "the Queen has taken me as her heir if anything were to happen to her."
"You? The heir?"
She smiled, "I want to change this kingdom for the better."
"I hope that day comes," I smiled back.
"So why has my dearest friend come back to the castle after so many years away?"
"Because of this," I pointed to Thomas. "I was out hunting and stumbled upon this boy and his younger sister. The girl ran off and left me with this mess."
She walked slowly to Thomas and took his hand, "Hello, my name is Caroline," she bowed down and stood back up gracefully.
"You really are a princess," I snorked.
"Hello," he responded quietly.
"You must be starving," she sympathized, pulling him up beside her. "You have no idea what you are, do you?"
"What do you mean?"
She looked back at me, "I think the best way is to show him."
"Do you really think that is the safest option?" I questioned.
"Well usually we don't have to explain this type of stuff because they are raised from children like you had been. So I think that this is the most natural way to do it," she said reassuringly.
"Ok," I agreed worringly.
