"N, I really don't think it works that way".
He put a questioning hand to his chin, "does for me at least". N hovered in the air a few meters as he watched Uzi desperately trying to join him.
She huffed, "what do you mean you don't think about it? I don't even remember how I got it to work the first time".
He shrugged, "my wings come out and I fly. It's not hard".
"Well mine don't, apparently".
"Uzi, they're different wings", he pointed out, "it might just be another case of finding a different method to get them to work".
Her hands flew to her head, "that's what I've been telling you this whole time!".
"Oh...".
They'd been at this for what felt like a while, though her internal clock told her it had only been twenty minutes. She watched him hovering there almost motionless as he broke eye contact with her, his tail swaying slightly in the wind. She squinted at him. Damn those sleek, metallic wings of his.
She hopped back up on the car, an SUV, and stretched her wings out. Uzi had no idea when she'd get used to the feeling of... well, feeling what her new wings and tail felt. The things were flesh ! How'd that even work? Well, better a mystery for later or maybe even never. So many weird developments in her life lately, she really didn't want to incite another so quickly.
The taller drone returned his gaze to her and hovered down to her, his wings flapping a bit as he stowed them away. "Sorry I couldn't be more useful".
"It's alright", she sighed, "don't worry about it".
He made an amused noise as he walked behind her to give her a careful pat on the back. She leaned into it and he smiled at the response. "Thanks, N", he heard her say.
Her tail regarded him in curiosity. It didn't have its own conscious, did it? No. He was pretty sure it was just a false head when they were playing with it.
Didn't help that it seemed to look at him.
"Hey, Uzi?". He asked with some air of hesitancy in his voice, "can I ask something?".
Her head turned around, as did part of her body as she tensed. "What?".
He pointed to her tail, "can you see with that?".
She blinked and released a breath she was previously unaware she was even holding. "I think I did during... all that", she thought about it, "I don't know how to do it again".
"It's just extra eyes. All you need to do is just switch them out", he nonchalantly stated only to cover his mouth once he realized he was talking in absolutes. "Uh, works for me at least".
An eyebrow appeared on her to denote her skeptical look, "what do you mean extra... oh, right". Uzi stood in-front of him and shoved a hand in-front of his lightband. "Can't see me now, huh?", she smirked.
"You didn't get them all", he pointed out.
Yeah, her hand was too small for this job. She frowned and retracted her hand.
This gave him a good idea though. "Hey, actually, let's try that on you. It might help you figure that out!".
"Really?".
He nodded, "yeah! Come here Uzi!", he said as he wrapped his arms around her, pressing her face into his chest.
"What the fuck N?", Uzi's voice was predictably muffled from the contact.
