And so began Cody Rhodes' journey into becoming Cody Heart, the singer that would sweep the nation and steal everyone's hearts. Normally, BigHit Trainees have to train for years. But Cody only had to train for a few weeks. Now, Cody is ready to debut. He had studied more about all the different parts of the industry than he'd ever studied before. Now, he's ready to show his talents off to the world. He's done more than just practicing his singing and dancing all that time. He'd also been studying the industry's history. He is more than ready to start a new chapter in his life, and being so prepared and determined gave him a huge advantage. He was ready to prove everything wrong; he was ready to make a name for himself. "Alright, you're ready to debut!" Jin spoke. "We should start you off with a single. What about.. 'I Will Follow You'?" Jimin asked.
"Isn't that kinda cliche?" Jungkook remarked. "We started with Born Singer, a cover," Hoseok stated. "Oh, right." Cody smiles at them, and he nods his head. He seems very proud of himself and can't believe he's about to debut. "I'm all for it! I'm ready to have my debut!" Cody looks down at himself for a minute and then back up at everyone. He's so grateful for everyone and all the help that they've given him, and he's so excited to show it by doing the things that he loves. "Well, we should start writing the lyrics, right?" Namjoon asked. "Yeah, I'm down with that. I want this to be a song that really means something. I want it to represent the dreams that I want everyone to chase. So I'd love to help you write it and make it special!" Cody sits down with BTS, and he is ready to do this. It's a dream come true to get the opportunity to write his own single, and he's so happy and thankful that that opportunity comes from these amazing guys. They've all been nice to him, and he appreciates that more than they could ever know.
"Alright, let's do this. How do we start?" Hmm.. Well, we need a really good hook. Something will hook the listeners in," Jin said. Cody nods his head. "Yeah, I think that's exactly right. We should work on the hook and the accompanying lyrics," Cody seems to be thinking about exactly how they should make the hook. He wants the song to be meaningful and to really get a hold of the feelings of everyone that listens to it. "I want this song to be the type of song that people listen to when they're feeling down and need a pick-me-up. That sounds good so far?" Yoongi's eyes light up, and he starts working on the music. He shows Cody. Cody takes a look at Yoongi's music, and he smiles. He's ready to do this.
"Wow, that sounds amazing. Now all we need is the lyrics. We're so close, guys; I can feel it!" Cody takes a deep breath and thinks a little bit. He wants this song to speak to people and knows an opportunity like this doesn't happen often. He has to make this song count. "Well, Cody, this is your song. How do you want to start it?" Jungkook asked. Cody thinks about it, and he smiles. He has a little bit of an idea. Now that he knows what the music will be like, he can form the accompanying words. "Okay, I've got an idea. I want the first line to go like this: ♪Even if I'm afraid, I'm gonna step on stage.♪ That sounds good to me. Now we just have to fill in the blanks." "Just be true to yourself, and I swear it's just a matter of time!" Jungkook continued. "That I'm sure you'll make it too!" "Just believe in yourself, and your dreams will come true, I know!" Cody nods as he listens to them.
"Yes, that's perfect! You guys are really coming up with this really quickly. You guys are the best!" Cody pauses for a second, and then he smiles. The song is starting to come together slowly, and he's still as shocked as he was back when he first got the opportunity to try this out. He wants to tell a little story with his verses. He wants everyone to know about a moment when they were down and out, but then they worked really hard and found success. And in this song, he's saying to anyone in that spot right now that they can do it and make it. Cody has always been about trying to inspire as many people as possible, and he wants to capture a moment like that in his lyrics.
"I want the verses to be about not giving up," Cody stated. "Never give up, even when people bring you down. Show the world you can get back up again!" Cody nods his head at Hoseok's suggestion. It seems like they're on the same page. "Yeah, that's the kind of message that I want to send. I think everyone deserves the chance to be happy. And I think everyone deserves to know that they can achieve their dreams. I want everyone to feel appreciated and like their life matters. I want a message like that in this song, something everyone can listen to and feel like they're not alone in their struggle, if that makes sense!" Jimin starts to write the lyrics down. Cody smiles, and he tries to calm down. It's his first single, and he really wants to do this right. He's been practicing and planning for this moment for a long time, and now it's finally time to do it. He's so excited and happy right now.
