Chapter 4

I've been residing in this "Black Caps" hideout, headed by Hendrix, for five months now.

Due to my aptitude for learning quickly and their liking of me, the assistant leaders and I also became close friends.

In particular, Maisyn, who I consider to be the closest friend because she is the only female in the group. She is no longer alone, though, as I am present.

She gave me excellent training over the last few months, and I really improved. Hendrix, also known as our boss, won't let me participate in any of the missions they have been on even though I'm a quick learner.

As a result, Ashton, the assistant leader who has blonde hair and is obviously in love with me, and I were left behind.

Ashton served as the group's intellectual hub. He is the one who instructs his allies on what to do and how to attack while his boss develops a plan of attack.

Ashton informed me of a group of adversaries known as the "White Blood Gang" who all donned white clothing and were covered in blood after a fight. They are known as White Bloods for this reason.

How do they even wash their garments with that much blood does make me wonder.

The top-ranked gang that has never lost is White Bloods. And they compete against the Black Caps, almost like rivals.

The Black Caps, however, will be battling the Airless Gang in today's mission.

I was fascinated, so I enquired, "What does the Airless gang look like, Ashton?"

"The last thing I remembered is that they battle without weapons; the only weapon they employ is poisons which make it difficult to breathe. Hm.. it's actually been a long time since we've fought with them, it was like seven years ago." he answered.

They are "Airless" for a reason, I see.

Then Maisyn knocked on the door, and we answered it. Since we are around ten years apart in age, I won't lie: Maisyn was like a mother to me. Like Martha did for me when I was younger, she took great care of me.

Regarding my cousins, I never had any communication from them. There were not even rumors about me. It's as if they briefly had me in their lives and then, when I was already lost, they quickly forgot about me. I suppose they don't care about me.

Since Maisyn is the one person I can be really honest with, I also told her about my past. I was so relieved that she would listen to my domestic issues without passing judgment. She recognizes in me a talent that no one else possesses, which makes me special. This is the reason why I adore Maisyn so much.

The last thing Maisyn said to us before they left was, "We're going now, Ashton take care of her alright?"

Ashton answered, "Yeah sure."

I got to my feet and moved approaching Maisyn.

"Maisyn.."

She looked at me and answered, "Yes?" with a smile.

Her children would be really fortunate to have her if she is a true mother.

"Stay secure," I said.

She gave me a gentle head pat as she shut the door and nodded. She is leaving, and I can hear her footsteps. But why do I feel that today would be an awful day? Usually, I don't feel this heavy.

I glanced around and, of usual, Ashton is always with me. To assist his crew, he is operating the drone from a screen. Hendrix, the boss, could be reached via phone to discuss the next course of action.

I sighed as I lay down on the bed. All I can do is pray that this mission is a success. I eventually dozed off after slowly closing my eyes.
