1996.

ELECTRICITY BURNED THROUGH THE LOCKER ROOM, one unlike the one present on the field. This was more lighthearted and full of joy as the girls danced along to the song playing. Mitch didn't recognise the song, it wasn't something she normally listened to, but it didn't stop her smile as she leaned back against her locker beside Nat, a twinkle in her eyes as they followed Lottie, staying quiet as everyone joined in with the song.

Lottie's hand brushed Mitch's shoulder as she walked past, smiling at her so angelically that Mitch swore her heart skipped a beat. "You're fucking whipped," Nat whispered to Mitch so that none of the other girls could hear. She couldn't stop the breathy laugh that passed by her lips as Lottie left her sight.

"Yeah," she sighed, hitting her head back against the locker door gently. "I really am." Mitch didn't see the point in denying it, anybody could see it. Hell, even a stranger would be able to point it out. Mitch knew she should try to hide it better, she knew the risks, but she couldn't stop herself from fawning after her girlfriend.

How could she?

It was Lottie Matthews.

Charlotte fucking Matthews.

Every guy in this school was obsessed with her and Mitch was no better.

Mitch just so happened to be luckier than them all.

"Michelle." Lottie was the only one to call Mitch by her full name, even her parents didn't use it growing up. Mitch pretended to hate it and, from everyone else, she did but she didn't hate how it sounded when uttered by Lottie. "I'll do your bee for you."

It wasn't a necessity for them to have a Yellowjacket painted on their cheek, something only Lottie, Laura Lee and Allie had done, and Mitch had already declined Jackie's offer to do it for her earlier but still found herself following Lottie as she left, ignoring the whipping sound Nat made.

Mitch jumped onto the sinks as soon as they reached the toilets, shuffling back so that her back was pressed against the mirror. She knew it would make it harder for Lottie to reach her and that she would have to stand between her legs and lean into her. Lottie knew it herself as she rolled her eyes but her smile wasn't missed by Mitch as she positioned herself between Mitch's legs, brush in hand.

"Don't move."

Mitch obeyed, staying as still as she possibly could as Lottie focused on making her artwork as perfect as she could, eyes taking in every miniature change in Lottie's face. One would think after seeing it so many times, Mitch would grow bored of staring but she never did. She doubted she ever would. Lottie's beauty was mesmerising, like a siren calling in their prey and Mitch was falling willingly.
