The wind whips my face, burning it, as I dash through the Cederleaf Forest, adrenaline pumping through my veins. The violent rain slashes at my wavy dark hair so that tiny drops of sweat are plastered against my forehead. I quickly glance back behind me to see if my pursuer is still there, but I don't get the full chance.A loud roar echoes through the forest, causing birds to scatter up into the air. Oh yeah, it's definitely there. I skid to a halt, placing my left foot in front so that it grinds into the mushy dirt, and whirl around.
The creature is a few yards behind me; its dark pelt gleaming in the hazy atmosphere sending off vibes of pure chaos. Saliva drips from its silver sharp fangs; its eyes bore into mine and I notice it doesn't have any pupils-Just two malevolent white tips. I load an arrow into my bow noticing out of my peripheral vision; the thing has arched its back, crouched, and ready to pounce.
Out of terror I let loose a string of arrows then sprint off again. I cover my ears as the creature lets out a blood-curling yowl then runs off after me snarling. Great, I've just pissed it off. I whiz by several trees, their long branches seem to grasp for me in the dead of the night. Aimlessly, I fire several more arrows at It, the rain pounding against my frail hood. My foot catches against a tree stump casing me to stumble as I fall face flat into a sluggish looking puddle.
I'm about to get up when It appears, circling around me. Its black paws stalk around me, getting closer every time. I helplessly whimper as my hand catches a jagged rock. Gripping it tightly, I stagger up and chuck it at the creature. I'm gone, on the run before its shrieks of agony pierce my ears. I feel the thump, thump, of its heavy footsteps as it lumbers after me. Good, I've injured it.
I rapidly gulp in minuscule breaths barley getting enough oxygen. My limbs feel like they're about to collapse into a pile of goo like this squishy ground and my eyesight's all blurry. Blindly, I stagger through the forest bumping into boulders, trees, everything, when my foot hits air.
I experience sudden vertigo slipping even further off the edge. Debris gently drops down into a black hole. Instantly, I lean back shifting all my weight into my other foot in hopes of tipping that way instead of plunging to my death. My eyes get a glimpse for a second of a deep bottomless pit before they're pelted again with stinging rain.
My mind's still dizzy and I want to curl up into a tight ball and stay there forever, but I cling onto a thin tree limb knowing it's my only chance if survival. Just as I'm pulling myself back up, I feel something sleek and slimy bristle against my jacket. My muscles tense, giving me a burst of temporary energy.
I crack my eyes open a peak finding myself face to face with the nefarious thing. It growls, letting out breaths of blackness, the dark mist seeping into my skin. I weakly look at the villainous thing my demeanor shattering. Grinning, it reveals its long gaping mouth full of sharp razor teeth; then chuckles in a low malicious tone,
"No more running little bunny. Your time is up." It grins revealing its pointy incisors. I wince already feeling the venom slowly creep its way to my delicate beating heart. My limbs go numb; my vision blurs as I croak,
"You're right." I glare right into its penetrating white eyes. "But not to you." My grasp on the tree branch loosens and with the last bit of strength left, I heave myself off the cliff, plummeting forward-straight into the heart of the black abyss.
The rain continues to fall, a steady drumroll now. Pitter. Patter. Pitter. Pater.
