Chapter 22

Ava's Pov:

"So how is married life,". Big boss asked me.

We were currently in his office, an expansive room on the highest floor of the building, Rossi Corp.

Big Boss had stormed into the mansion earlier this morning demanding that I went on a coffee date with him. Enzo refused outrightly and the both of them had a very heated argument, well not argument per say as it was just big boss doing the talking while Enzo glared at him.

I don't know why Enzo holds so much resentment against his father, I can't remember him ever talking to his dad without scowling or glaring at him. Seems like they don't get along very well.

I had to fake some tears before Enzo let me leave the mansion with big boss. And while we were on our way to the restaurant, big boss had to make a quick stop by his office to get some files that he would make use of later on at home.

Which brings me here, laying on the couch reading some sort of business book I got from his shelf, I could barely understand a thing from the book, While Big boss was busy organizing some files on his desk.

"Not bad, I think". I sighed, gazing up at the suspended ceilings of his office.

"Well, I don't like the sound of that". He hummed to himself as he continued arranging the files.

" I'm alive, aren't i ". I laughed gently and joked a bit.

" I'm serious, cupcake". He said genuinely, and I turned my head to see him placing some files in a briefcase with his back turned to me.

What could I say, my married life with Enzo was so complicated. It's been a week since the shopping incident and I haven't spoken to Enzo, since the night we had dinner.

He is so unpredictable, One minute he's always around me, calling me nicknames, taking me out for shopping, kissing me and the next he is avoiding me like a plague.

The only time I get to see him is when he's leaving for work, and that's when I'm looking out my window watching as the luxurious cars left the mansion's gate.

"Don't worry, cupcake, I'm almost done with this, then we can leave for the restaurant". Big Boss said, bringing me back to reality.

I had grown used to seeing him in a suit, it felt almost strange to now have him in blue jeans and shirt. While Big Boss was previously admitted to the hospital, he had always insisted to be dressed in a suit, he was always saying that a powerful CEO like him should never wear hospital scrubs. I laughed at the distant memory.

About an hour later, we were now seated in a five star restaurant.

My eyes roamed round the expensive restaurant, from the people cheerfully eating their meals and then to the waiters moving round to serve customers. The restaurant was a lively one.

"Here, you go". Big Boss said as he placed a cup of cappuccino in front of me.

I sighed, taking a deep breath as the smell of coffee reaching my nostrils made me break out in a big smile.

"Aww, thanks Big Boss". I said while glancing at him as he took a seat opposite me.

"You're welcome, cupcake". He replied before handing me a plate of nutella chocolate chip brownies.

"I see you're still in love with these, i can't seem to understand how they bring out that satisfying reaction in you". He said as I ate one of my chocolate chip brownies.

"Well, I ". I began, as I picked up another chocolate chip brownie
"Don't understand why, you". I said as I pointed the brownie at him.

"Had to go make the coffee, yourself, how did they even let you enter the kitchen in the first place.". I asked glancing over at the front of the restaurant.
