Carmi...
The darkness of the night was slightly easened by the candle on the side of the room. I pursed my lips as sweat trickled down my neck.
I feel pain.
Although it's been three weeks, according to the man boy , some of my injuries are far from healed. Especially the one on my right leg. There was an ugly scar forming over, running from my hip to my lower thigh, causing my limping. The bandage in that area is soaked in blood, in dire need of a new dressing. In which obviously, Alvan has.
" The man boy is easy to bully, I'ld just threaten him to give me the new dressing and medicine." I told myself as I examined my body state. Apart from the wound on my leg, there was one on the side of my neck and bruises on my arms that were healing over. The pain caused by the major wounds is making it hard for me to sleep.
I made up my mind to find the man boy and bully the hell out of him to get the medicine. Just imagining it made me smirk evilly.
What I did not anticipate was to find the man boy outside the door the moment I opened it. All my evil thoughts of bullying the guy dissipated the moment I spotted his red, slightly swollen eyes.
' Had he cried because of me!!' I thought in alarm as I gazed at Alvan, who is currently avoiding my gaze.
In his arms, he had clean bandages, gauze, and medicine. A basin filled with fresh water was placed on the floor with a white cloth soaked within. His lips quivered helplessly, trying to hold back his tears, I guess. For some reason, I can't handle his expression of a wounded puppy.
"A-am sorry... you were right. I..I..you-" with every word from his mouth, it made it harder for him to hide the quiver in his voice. He looked so pitful.
I, the great general, had never seen such an expression Bourne directly due to my acts. I was speechless. Is he acting? No way a real man would make such a facial expression. Yet the longer I stared at him, the more I discovered that it was not faked.
Fucking Innocence!
I thought of a quick lie to smoothly heal his expression. Conjure some believable lie.
" I didn't mean it,"
He froze for a while before raising his raven black eyes to stare at me in high hopes. " Really?!"
Seeing the hopeful gaze ,I just nodded, and he gave me a dazzling smile highlighted by the vampire little teeth. I gazed at him, not sure whether to smile back or do nothing. No one had ever given me such a genuine smile before. Not even the citizens that I rescued.
Yes, they would smile, but their eyes had hints of fear. Like, who wouldn't fear a female general with her armour dyed red with blood that they called me General Scarlett? Few to none.
Seeing enough, I stepped aside and gave him an invitation look. He quickly dove back to reality as a blush crept up his cheeks. He scrambled to pick up the basin and managed to walk in with them miraculously without dropping them. I quietly walked back to bed and sat down.
Gazing at Alvan, who started changing my bandages, the silence was unnerving. Alvan stole glances every now and then ,only to be caught by an already staring me.
" Ask."
He chuckled nervously. " Was I that obvious? Well, why am I even asking. Am bad at hiding my curiosity. "
"Very bad at it."
"Oh...well, you...your a female soldier. And you look like a high commanding one, I was wondering if...If the men at the military camp. Have they ever mistreated you?" He gazed at me as a smirk took place on face.
