As the beginning of the school year started, the courtyard was full of students, new and old, picking clubs. The elder students were at the stalls while the new students were joining them. At the end of the stalls was an empty one, manned by a second-year boy and girl. This was the basketball club, the boy was the captain Junpei Hyuga, while the girl was the coach, Rika Aida. The rest of the team were part of the mass of students, acting as poster boys for the club. Through the gates came a tall, lightly coloured boy with his duffel bag on his back and his blazer in his hand over his shoulder. Fortunately, because of his height, he was able to see over the top of the rest of the students and look for the right club, unfortunately, he was from America and his Japanese wasn't the best, so he was a little confused on where to go. When he found the map of all the stalls at the end of the crowd, he bent a little to attempt to read it. While he couldn't, he happened to be in front of the basketball club and Rika noticed he was lost.
Rika: Hyuga, I'll be right back.
Hyuga: Huh?
As Rika left to the boy, a shorter, baby blue haired and eyed boy put a full sign up form in the box, without anyone noticing he was even there. When Rika reached the boy, he was muttering to himself in a language she could understand but had trouble speaking in, English.
Y/N: *quietly* How hard can it be to find a simple club?
Rika: Excuse me, but are you lost?
The boy looked towards her and sheepishly started rubbing the back of his neck.
Y/N: *broken* Yeah, ironic isn't it.
Rika: I take it you're not from Japan?
Y/N: That obvious, huh?
Rika: Yeah.
Y/N: I'm from America, I stupidly arrived before I could fully understand Japanese.
Rika: Well you understand me.
Y/N: I can only understand people talking, I can't read or write in Japanese.
Rika: Good thing I understand English. So, what club are you looking for?
Y/N: Basketball.
Rika smiled and pulled the boy without saying anything, shocking him and causing him to try to catch up with her. When she stopped, the boy was confused until he understood what she had done. She took him to the basketball club.
Y/N: Thanks
As Rika smiled, Y/N pulled out his phone and translated everything he needed to write from English to Japanese and wrote it down on one of the forms. As he walked away, Rika and Hyuga read what he had put down.
Rika: Y/N Jordan. First-year.
Hyuga: 2.5 meters?!?! (7 foot 11 inches)
Rika: Jeez, that's tall!
Hyuga: He came from North Carolina, the school.
Rika: Isn't that supposed to be really hard to get into?
Hyuga: Yeah.
Rika: What's his reason for joining?
Hyuga: He put "My entire family are basketball royalty; I want to make them proud any way I can"
