The scent of burning flesh intoxicates the air as electric sparks can be seen in a dimly lit laboratory, the walls are damp and patchy and the floor is cracked; two tall pillars hold up the already crumbling roof and a metal bench hides inbetween. A large lump lies on top of the bench with a white sheet draped across the top, blood soaking through in splotches - various tools are strewn around, glinting from the single crack of light coming from a very small window at the top of the room.
An ancient looking man wearing a lab coat and goggles walks in, he has a sour expression even though his mouth is almost fully hidden by a large bushy mustache and he appears to be holding a small syringe filled with a deep red liquid. The doctor continues until he halts right next to the bench and flicks the syringe twice, the liquid oozing out like blood and spattering in droplets; he lifts up the stained pearl sheet and inserts the tip into a section of green patchy skin. As the liquid flows in like syrup a shadowed figure clears their throat and the doctor turns to face them.
?: So are you done?
Dr. ?: I told you this sort of thing takes time, come back in a month.
?: The one thing we don't have is time Garaki, I'll be back in a week.
Dr. Garaki: A week?! That'll never be enough time! I'm handling human life here, it's a delicate practice.
?: You call that saggy lump of flesh a human? And I thought you were the scientist!
Dr. Garaki: ... One week. Then you leave me alone, deal? (He holds out a stubby hand infested with wrinkles and veins)
?: (they smirk, satisfied with the answer they received and seal the agreement) deal.
Dr. Garaki: Oh and one more thing (they turn to look at the aged man and raise an eyebrow) if I see you on this property again after this I will not hesitate to disassemble you limb from limb and have you hung, drawn and quartered.
?: (A grin creeps unnaturally onto their face and they let out a small, bitter chuckle) I'd like to see you try madman!
Before Garaki could even think of a reply they were gone, it's like they had just vanished into thin air.
A flash occurs and the room is filled with a thick rotting smokey smell that made garaki gag, suddenly the sheet that was covering the wierd lump revealing a shriveled and deformed looking child in a blue gray nightgown - it's face was gnawed and twisted and it shuddered to the sudden shock of what appeared to be a broken wire, that must have shocked the poor thing into life.
Dr. Garaki: I did it! I've created life! (He walked up to the child and reached his hand out to feel it's pulse but when he did it was gone.)
Dr. Garaki: Ahh.. I should of known this would happen. Experiment number one, failed. (The last part he said into a voice recorder and then thumbed a small black book about the size of his palm out of his pocket and put a thick, neat 'X' in a box next to the letter 'a' and slid it back in.
The fire crackled and a sweet aroma like chicken replaced the rotting smell from earlier. Garaki was sitting in a rocking chair next to it, reading and humming the nursery rhyme ring around the roses. Screams pierced the peace but Garaki just hummed louder, letting them slowly fade into nothing. Once It was completely silent, he again pulled out the notebook from before and crossed out the letter 'j'.
