Your eyes roam over the green canopy of the endless forest. You could see the curve of Earth from the height you were at but except the greenness of trees there was nothing for you to see. Two months passed just like that. At first, you had tried talking to whoever was coming twice a day with the food for you but they wouldn't speak. You couldn't even hear them breathe. Fruits were supplied once a week. At least, they were fresh.
It took you not more than a week to feel homesick and alone. Sometimes the yearning would be too much that you would end up crying but soon would stop. You are not getting the prescribed share of nutrients, the maximum you could do was keeping your mental health in check.
And by homesick, it wasn't the stone-built palace that you were longing for, it was Jungkook. When you were at the palace, it wasn't like he was always with you. He always had things to do and you had your own jobs too but whenever you would get time, he would be there with you, making sure nothing disturbs your time together. You missed him. So much so that it sometimes made your chest ache.
You look at the sky which was devoid of the moon. It was dark. You could have been mistaken but you would like to believe you weren't — in the span of these two months you had seen Avalar, Jungkook's eagle, thrice. It was almost impossible. There was no way the bird would've found its way to you. Was it Jungkook that sent him? The thought of Avalar is accompanied by the thought of Jungkook's wellbeing. Is he fine? Is he taking his medications regularly? Does he still get nightmares?
You perch on the edge of the bed. It has been quite a lot of time since the nightfall so you assumed it was time for you to go to bed. Fumbling over the nightstand in the darkness, you ran your fingers over the cold metal of a chain you were allowed to keep to yourself, it was the same that Jungkook had gifted. You smiled keeping your hands on your belly, caressing. "Good night." You speak in a sweet whisper.
You were about to lie down when you heard a noise behind you. It was the sound of metal clashing against the wall. You tilted your head sideways. Before you fully turn towards the sound, you had to find means to protect yourself. You get hold of the knife from the tray of fruits and as soon as you heard the sound again, you got off from the bed and turned to the window. Indeed, there was a hook against the window sill. Someone was climbing into the room.
It was difficult for you maintain your stance when you were carrying the baby. It wasn't easy like before. "Who's there?" You shout and your voice echoes across the small room. "Do not dare to step inside or I will not hesitate to decapitate you." Your voice is bold and strong and you were confident that your message was clearly delivered to whoever was there.
Gloved hands clasp the window sill and the hooded person climbs inside. You don't think twice before throwing the knife straight at the man's head but he tilts his head sideways effortlessly, just at the right time and the knife pierces into the wooden sides of the window's door. The person was more trained than you had thought and you had lost your only weapon. "Do not step closer." You pronounce, taking a step back into the shadows.
The man chuckles softly, like he was overcome with happiness. The sound hits straight at your senses as a wave of familiarity sweeps across your heart. You stay where you are as he takes one step forward whilst throwing away his gloves but he was still in the shadows. It was the same sound you had craved during all this time. You didn't want to believe it. You were already getting weak at the thought of it.
"It's me, love."
You freeze on your spot as he steps out of the shadows. Your chest was burning. You were straining to breathe. His eyes were glistening due to the tears building up. He looked more happy than he has ever looked, more gorgeous than he has ever been. His words hammered on your head, heart throbbed. You were crying before you even realized. You were clutching your baby bump. It was her father in front of you. He was there in front of you being as surreal as he always is.
