Sasha
"That's the last of it." Kale said as he brought another box into my room. I hugged him and he kissed my forehead.
"Thank you big brother." I said I to his chest.
"Don't thank me. I'm supposed to protect you." He pulled away from me. "Are you sure you're okay?"
I nodded. "I'm fine."
"I'm glad. Baby will be here later to chill with you while me and Cal go handle some stuff." He started to walk out and I grabbed his wrist.
"Wait. Baby?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Peaches." He said smiling and bit his lip. "I meant Peaches."
"So you guys are a thing now?" I asked letting go of him and crossing my arms. I smiled as he stroked the hair on his face.
"I guess you could call it that. I'm just trynna go at her pace and not rush her into anything. I didn't even know she had feelings for me."
"How could you not know when that girl jumps through hoops for you?"
He stared at the wall as he thought about what I said. He shrugged. "I don't know. I just didn't really pay attention. I've never been interested in females like that."
I nodded in agreement. "Well, when she gets here, don't swallow her face too much." I plopped down on my bed and he rolled his eyes, shutting the door.
I moved Malika and I out of the house and left it to Quee. I couldn't be there with all of the constant reminders of him.
I wasn't crying anymore. I've cried since last week when I found out about him and the other women. I felt stupid for even thinking that Quee could be faithful to me.
"Mama?" Malika waddled in the room, almost tripping over the carpet.
I scooped her up in my arms and kissed her cheeks. "Yes baby?"
"Dada?" She said in more of a question than a statement and I smiled at her.
"He'll be over to get you this weekend baby."
She may not be able to talk well, but she understood what you said to her and she definitely knew that something wasn't right between Quee and I.
My phone started ringing and it was Peaches.
"Hey boo. Kale ju-" I started, but she interrupted me, yelling into the phone.
"Turn on Channel 10!" She exclaimed and I looked at the phone.
"Hold on." I put the phone down and watched Malika leave out the room yelling for Cal. I grabbed the remote and pushed the power button. I pushed the one and zero and waited for it to change.
Jacquees was standing on the top of his recording label building, 35 floors high. He was singing one of his songs.
"Peaches, what the hell is he doing?" I picked my phone back up.
"Sasha, you need to go save him!" She yelled. "He's obviously doing this because you and Malika are no longer in his life. You may not want to be with him, but just tell him anything to get him off that fucking ledge!"
I hung up and pulled on my shoes. I grabbed my keys and ran down the stairs. "Sis, what going on?" Cal questioned as he fed Malika some pizza rolls with ranch.
I didn't answer him. I ran out the door, slamming my car door shut as I got in. I sped down the highway, not really caring if I got pulled over at this point.
When I got there, reports, police, and firemen were everywhere. I even saw a suicide hotline van ... wait, they have those?"
"Excuse me miss, but you can't go up there." A policeman stopped me.
"I'm his wife and the mother of his child." I glared at him and stepped aside to hold the yellow tape up for me.
I sprinted inside to the elevator, rapidly pushing the button even though I knew it wouldn't make the elevator go any faster. When the doors slid open, I got in and pushed the button all the way to the top and then took a couple flights of stairs. I burst through the door that said roof.
I could tell that the men trying to get him down were the suicide hotline people. They were trying to whisper soothing words to Jacquees, but it wasn't working.
"Jacquees," I yelled over them. They turned their heads to look at me and so did Quee. "What are you doing up there baby boy?" I whined.
This was definitely too much to handle.
He smirked at me. "Sasha." My name rolled off his tongue, sending a chill down my spine. "You came? For me?"
"Listen Quee," I took a couple steps forward, the suicide hotline men making a path or me. "I know everything has been rough. I know that, but killing yourself is only going to make things worse."
"How?" His voice was raspy. "I've already lost everything that even matters to me." He looked down. "Might as well jump."
"Jacquees, get down. Now! You have a daughter."
"You took her away from me!" He exclaimed. "I-I know I fucked up but you didn't even listen to me. You hardly thought about if I was worth it. I know I fucked up, but you didn't even consider how much we've been through and how deep in love we are."
I sighed. "Get down. Please. If not for me, for Malika. She just asked about you before I found out all of this was happening."
He shook his head before looking down again. He faced me and blew me a kiss. He spread his arms before slowly falling off the ledge.
