I fight off each dragon, one by one.
"You cannot defeat me!" I slash the biggest, leaving it screeching on the floor. Then I feel a claw go down my back as I drop to the floor. I see a light. I hear my name being called. "Skyler! Skyler!" "Is that you God?!?" I ask pleadingly. "Skyler! Skyler! Skyler wake up!" I jump out of bed, panting, my heart beating as fast as a race horse. My mother hovering over me with her dark strands hair dangling in my face. "Come on honey, time for breakfast." As she leaves my room, I collapse back into my bed. Then something motivates me. My eyes widen at the smell of freshly baked pancakes. The warm syrup makes me jump out of bed. As I race down the staircase two steps at a time.
I plopped into my seat as I shoved my pancakes in my mouth. As I watch my Golden Maple syrup run down my stack of pancakes, my mother begins to speak. I could tell from the look in her eye that she knew I would hate her for whatever she was about to say.
"Um, sweetheart. Me and your father had made a decision." Uh oh, I thought to myself. My mother motioned my father for him to take it from here.
"Yes, we have decided to, well, we've decided to put you back in school. Just to try it."
There was an awkward silence. I could not find the words to argue, but I also couldn't find the words to politely agree. I hadn't been to a public school since the sixth grade. When I was five. I was twelve now. I didn't know what to do, yet say. I finally found my words, and peeped out one sentence. "What grade would I go into?" I quietly asked. When I looked at my parents, they seemed relieved that I was actually talking to them. "Well, we were thinking ninth grade, your first year of high school. And we would be putting you in West Wide High School."
"Well, It doesn't sound to bad."
"Great! Your first day's tomorrow."
And that was the end of that.
