After school, Zhang Hao goes to the detention room, but Hanbin's nowhere to be seen. Is he going to skip detention? Zhang Hao doesn't even know him anymore. He can't believe they were best friends for so many years. He knows people grow up and change, but there's not a single thing he recognizes about this new Hanbin.Just as he thought he'd skip detention, Hanbin walks into the room and sits down on the other side of the room. Zhang Hao just looks down and starts some homework he already got on his first day. He's going to get into so much trouble when he gets home and his mom finds out he got detention. He had never gotten detention before.
"Sung Hanbin... you're here again? It's not even surprising anymore." The teacher in the room tells him. "Why can't you just behave and stop getting in trouble?"
"Well, that's impossible. Teachers get mad over everything."
"Hanbin, you're already a senior in high school. It's time you start acting like it."
Hanbin just rolls his eyes and stays quiet. It's not like what he did this time was something he deserved getting detention for. Teachers are too dramatic.
"I'm going to step out for a few minutes. Don't move." The teacher tells them before walking out of the room.
Zhang Hao keeps looking down at his homework, trying to mind his own business. If he just acts like Hanbin's not here, time will pass by way more quickly. But he's unable to ignore him and stay quiet when Hanbin starts blaming him for getting detention.
"What?! You're the one who yelled at me." Zhang Hao scoffs. "If you would've just shared your textbook with me like any other normal person would have, we wouldn't have to be stuck in here."
"Oh, so now it's my fault?" Hanbin asks in disbelief. "You raised your voice at me first and kept talking to me even though I clearly told you I don't like sharing."
"Wow... what are you? Five? I'm pretty sure they teach you how to share back in kindergarten." Zhang Hao rolls his eyes.
"I just don't like sharing with you. Why do you keep talking to me and acting like nothing happened?"
"Listen, you're not my favorite person at all, but I'm not the same Zhang Hao I was four years ago. I learned to forgive you for what you did and don't hold any grudges. On the other hand, you can't get over what happened even though I never even did anything."
"Oh, sure you didn't. I'm the innocent one here and you never believed me. Instead you just went and spread those same rumors about me, knowing they're not real."
"Yeah, sure." Zhang Hao laughs sarcastically before turning back to do his homework.
"Are you seriously laughing right now? This is serious." Hanbin walks over to him.
Zhang Hao sighs before looking up at him. "Look... for someone who doesn't want to talk to me, you sure are talking a lot."
"It just angers me that you treat this as if it's a joke. You never even apologized."
"Who apologizes for something they didn't do? That's admitting you did it! Why would I?" Zhang Hao stands up to face Hanbin. "You never apologized either."
"Because I didn't do anything."
"Well, that's even harder to believe now since I can see you've changed a lot... and not for the better. Literally everyone in the school is scared of you. What have you even done? Everyone finds you intimidating and you keep getting detention it seems."
"Oh, what does that have to do with anything? You can't tell me I wasn't a good friend when we were still friends. How I am now has nothing to do with how I was before. You just keep making things up to make me seem like the bad guy." Hanbin rolls his eyes. "You're the bad friend here."
"You've gotten really brave. I remember when you were five and I made you cry just by telling you you still wore diapers." Zhang Hao gets closer to him. "Have you forgotten who listened to who just four years ago? I was the dominant one in our friendship, so I'd watch my tone if I were you."
Zhang Hao didn't expect it, but Hanbin gets even closer to him, making Zhang Hao take a few steps back before he's stopped by a desk. Hanbin gets close to his ear to whisper something. "Things change, Zhang Hao. I'm the dominant one now."
