CHAPTER I: WIFE
KADEN
"Kade, saan ka ba pupunta? Bakit ka aalis? Anong problema? Pag-usapan muna natin." She tried to hold my arm to stop me.
"Kaden..." she cried.
Damn it! I knew she was crying, and I couldn't bear to see her like that because of me.
But I did this to her.
I'm sorry... I can only apologize to her in my mind.
And through the rain, I gathered the courage to look at her pitiful state. I made her look like that...
Masakit din ito para sa akin. But I have to do this... for her...
She was crying while begging me to stay...
While I tried to hide my own tears, using the heavy rain pouring down on us...
I'm very sorry, Raya...
Parang isang malayong alaala na lang iyon. At ngayon ay nasa nakaraan na lang...
Since I became Kaden Theodore Delgado and Don Antonio Delgado's grandson, wala na akong ginawa sa mga nakalipas na taon kundi ang magtrabaho lang nang magtrabaho para sa mga negosyo ni lolo...
I stood beside the large glass walls and windows of my office—the office of the CEO here on the top floor of our biggest company building.
Our company building may have been the tallest in this area or even in the country...
I didn't know that my father came from a rich family until my grandfather found me in the past.
I have everything now, including money and a good life, but I still feel unhappy somehow...
And looking at myself in the mirror, I asked if this was really what I wanted.
"Sir, your wife is here," one of my assistants informed me.
"What brought you here in my office today?" I asked her.
She always used her fierce eyes to look at me, and it seemed like she was always angry...
Despite being such a small and fragile-looking woman...
But her eyes were different. They were fierce, showing strength whenever she looked at anything. My wife was a confident woman.
And she had every reason to look at things—including me—the way she wanted. After all, she was already Maria Ayla Del Valle before she became my wife, a Delgado.
"Have you forgotten?" she asked me.
"Uh... about...?" I might have really forgotten, as I couldn't recall what she wanted to remind me of.
May naging usapan ba kami? Oh. I was really so busy with business meetings these past weeks. If only Damian could work for our family's businesses too. Sometimes it's just hard for me as well.
