Smoke billowed from the Hogwarts Express as excitement, and a twinge of nervousness, swelled inside Eleanor Moss. She had been awaiting this day ever since her acceptance letter arrived.

Some could say the Eleanor was as prepared as she could be, as she had grown up in a magical household. That didn't stop her feeling like an outsider. In a false attempt to muster courage, she took a couple deep breaths and stepped towards the Express. Beneath all the worry, Eleanor couldn't help being a little excited. After all, she was going to do real magic for once, and not just send haphazard sparks out of her wand.

"See you soon Ma, Pa!". Eleanor exclaimed.  Tears glistened on Ida Moss' cheeks. Robert Moss squeazed her shoulder. Her parents beamed. They were so proud of her, so so proud. Carefully, Eleanor stepped from the platform to the train.

"Bye!" she called, the Express slowly pulling away from the station.

"Love you!" said her parents, blowing kisses in her direction.

Eleanor watched as her parents disappeared from view, leaving her feeling quite alone. In an attempt to distract herself from the looming feeling spreading over her, Eleanor peered through the window. Feeling more at ease, she spotted rolling hills, not unlike the tendrils of anxiousness rolling through her own countryside.

"Make sure to make friends, El!", her mother's voice rang through her head.

Make friends, she repeated, and just how would she do that?

Right, she decided, I'll at least make one friend.

"I'm no expert on making friends," spoke a soft voice behind her, "But I doubt you'll make any hiding at the front of the train, do you?"

It took all of Eleanor's self control not to jump out and scream on the spot.

"How did you-", she began, but she was promptly interrupted by a small hand reaching out to greet her.

"I'm Albus," the brown-haired boy said, "Albus Dumbledore."
