Arriving at Kings Cross Station was not as easy as I thought it would be. First of all, dad and I were almost late since we couldn't find my owl, Sully. He was a navy owl. Quite the odd color. Everyone found him so amazing. I just found him cute. Anyways, Sully ended up in the top of a tree and dad had to use a spell to get him down.
Then came my packing. You think I'd be smart and pack my stuff ahead of time since I was so excited to go to this school? But no, I left it until the last minute just like everything else and I barely had the time to cram the last of my prancing supplies into the large trunk.
Dad and I apparated and then came the next battle. Platform nine and three-quarters. When we asked the people working at the platform, they just gave us dirty looks and walked away. It wasn't until we saw a pair of kids fall through a wall that we realized the platform wouldn't be available to muggles.
In the end, I got onto the scarlet steam engine, having just enough time to give my dad a humongous hug and kiss on the cheek. I hauled my trunk behind me with my right hand, my left occupied with Sully and his cage. Sully kept hooting excitedly as people walk by and I found myself apologizing immensely for the noise. As I was walking, I came to the quick realization that all the compartments on the train are full. Great right?
I was just about to give up on my search for a seat when I heard a loud 'BANG!' coming from the inside of the compartment door I was leaning on. I tried to get a glimpse of what was going on but the students inside had shut the blinds. Nothing else to do but walk right on in. I readjusted Sully in my arm and open the door roughly, almost dropping the cage in the process.
Inside the compartment were three boys, two of whom looking very similar, both with fiery red hair. The other one had dark hair in dreadlocks and was holding a small cage. None of the boys seemed to have noticed that I was standing in the doorway, they're too busy with what looks like a small telescope.
"Fred pass me that bruise remover that we found." Said one of the fiery hairs twins.
"One second George, I think some first-year is in the doorway." The other twin said, turning to face me before his face changes completely. "Oh! You're not a first year!"
I laughed at the obvious statement, "no, I'm a seventh year. But I'm a transfer. From America." I said and they all looked at me in astonishment. "What?"
"Your accent-it's so cool!" Said the boy holding the cage. "I'm Lee by the way. And this is Fred and George, trouble-makers, tricksters and Hogwarts finest pranksters!"
"That would be us." Said the first twin, George, I think his name was.
"And who would you be?" Said the other, Fred.
"I'm Allyssa Jones, but please call me Ally. And I myself am quite the trickster." I grin proudly, thinking of my past pranks.
"We should get along nicely then." Said George.
"What's that?" I ask, pointing at the telescope in his hand.
"A punching telescope. We've just completed it. But poor Georgie here had to be our test subject. Sorry by the way mate, here you go." Said Fred, handing George a small, round, tin can with a gooey yellow cream inside. George took the can and started applying it gingerly to his cheek.
"Ummmm..." I say awkwardly, still standing in the doorway and about to drop Sully, "can I, um, sit?"
The three boys look at me as if they're contemplating something in their minds. Then Fred smiles widely and says "of course! Let me help you with your trunk!"
Once my trunk was safely compacts above our heads and Sully calmed down a little from seeing the new faces the boys started shooting questions at me like there was no tomorrow.
