Backstory:
Arlo's whole life had been spent being the responsible one. As the eldest he was expected to be the smart one, the hard working one, the sporty one, the good looking one, the perfect golden Child that would set an example for his siblings. Part of him had hoped that his secondary gender would be a beta when the day came that he would find that out.

When he was 14, the tests were done and to his disappointment and his parents delight he was deemed to be an alpha. Nowadays, Alphas and Omegas were becoming more and more rare, and was something to brag about if you were deemed one, the alpha.

The omegas had a very different life, they were treated unfairly in both academics and in life in general. Omegas we're seen as a secondary citizen, an individual that made the honourable alphas lose their abilities to control themselves, like they were the problems. Arlo always had a problem with this.

He grew up being very vocal about the injustice omegas faced. He himself hadn't ever lost his control around an omega (even when he forgot to take his suppressants) and wanted to advocate for omegas to be treated fairly in society. This became more of a goal when his two youngest siblings were deemed omegas.

His parents were never really on board with this. Since it was a controversial topic they figured their golden alpha son should just enjoy the luxury of having 'superior genes' to that of his siblings. He hated this idea and had a massive argument with his parents causing him to move out and rarely have contact with them.

When they died, the guilt of their falling out caused him to become more withdrawn from people, he moved home to help his siblings out, and quit openly advocating.

He does believe very strongly in this idea, but since the only time he ever spoke out against his parents resulted in their loss (in his eyes) he tends to keep this to himself.
