"Okay, we should probably leave now." Laura said as she threw a backpack over her shoulder. The bag contained all of the things we'd need. A flashlight, a pocket knife, waters, snacks, etc. "Guys." I said as I snapped in front of Justin and Jen to break up their kissing fest. "Right.. Leaving now." Jen said as she stood up and took Justin's hand. "This is gonna be a longggg trip." Blake said sarcastically as he followed everyone out to Luke's car. Before Luke and I left his house, he grabbed his car keys from off the table and I just slowly walked over to him. "When are you gonna tell her?" I asked. He just rolled his eyes and turned to me. "Tell who what?" He asked, pretending to be clueless but miserably failed. "Luke.." I said as he began to head out the door and I followed. "Drop it, Carly." He said as he hopped in the drivers seat of the car. I just sighed and jumped in the back seat next to Laura. "You got the gps?" Luke asked Blake. He just nodded and handed it to him as Luke connected it to the car. "So when we get there... What exactly are we planning on doing?" Justin asked. "Yeah, he's right. What's the plan?" Laura added. "We're gonna scope out the place, see if we can figure out what really happened to that poor kid... And figure out why Mrs. Stefan lied to us about what really happened to that school, if anything happened at all.." Luke said as he started the engine and we began driving. The whole ride there was pretty silent. Laura looked kind of distant, like she was thinking about something. "Hey, you okay?" I whispered so no one else could hear but her and I. She just quickly wiped a tear that I didnt even realize was in her eye and looked at me. "Kayla and I.. We-we broke up." Laura sadly whispered so no one else in the car would hear. No one knew she was bisexual, only I did. That's only because she kissed me a year ago after our first cheer meet and I explained to her that I was straight and she understood and we remained friends. I swore to never tell a soul about the kiss, or her sexuality. She's been secretly dating Kayla Bremmingham for six months and Laura was really into her, they were that type of couple that I thought would never break up. I just put my arm around her and pulled her into a hug to comfort her. After about twenty more minutes of driving, we finally pulled up across from where Bradford high was. I had the chills just looking at the building. "Well... Defenitley not burned down.." I said as I slowly unbuckled my seatbelt. "And defenitley creepy." Jen added as she unbuckled as well. "Oh come on.. It was a school! It's not that bad." Justin said as he opened the car door and stepped outside. "A school where someone killed themself.." I muttered under my breath as I opened my door and slowly stepped out. "Alright... Lead the way Luke." I said as he got out of the car and locked the doors as the others did the same. "It's a little chilly out here.." Laura said as she crossed her arms, hoping to radiate warmth to herself. "Here." Luke said as he took his sweat jacket off and wrapped it around Laura. "Thanks.." She said as she blushed. "Ew... What's that smell?" Blake asked as we all started to scrunch up our noses. I just jumped and grabbed onto Luke when I saw what was dead on the floor. "Ew! Ew! What is that?! A dead cow?!" I screeched as I pointed down to the cow that was all bloody and had flies buzzing around it. "It's just a cow, not a ghost." Justin said as he walked around it. "Yeah, it would be. If it had a head." I said with a disgusted face. "Do you need to wait in the car?" Justin asked, realizing my paranoia. "Alone? Fuck that." I said as I quickly walked around the cow. Justin just chuckled in amusment as we all slowly walked up to the school. "Okay... Laura, what exactly do you know about this school? What else has your dad told you?" Luke asked as he turned to her. "Nothing, everytime I bring up the subject of why his school was closed, he shuts me down." Laura replied. Jen just let out a breath, "awesome. So we got nothing." Jen added. "Not necessarily..." Blake said as he kneeled down by the dead cow and motioned for us to come over to him. Ugh, I was so over that damn cow. Once we crowded around him he pointed to one of the cow's injurys. "What? What is it?" Luke asked. "Oh my god.." Justin said as he knelt down next to Blake. "What? Will one of you tell us what we're supposed to be seeing right now?" I asked. "This cow was attacked.." Justin began. "Really? Wow.. I thought it was just takin a stroll and it's head flew off." I said sarcastically. "Not by another animal.. By a person." Blake added. "What, so this person just ripped apart its insides and took the head as a souvenir?" Jen commented. "I'm thinkin this was more of a supernatural attack.. Like, a vampire or somethin. Maybe it got thirsty and desperatley slaughtered this cow." Blake replied. "Oh, okay yeah that makes sense. Vampires walk around and kill cows in front of schools all the time back in Woodburk so.." I said sarcastically, yet again. Blake just rolled his eyes. "This isnt Woodburk, this is Bradford. And to anyone in passing, this isnt a school... it's just an abandoned building." Blake said. "Ok yeah, but either way... Vampires dont exist. And even if they did, I doubt it would be related to what happened at this school." I replied. "What even made you go there?" Luke asked Blake. "To the supernatural thing? Simple. The thing that attacked this cow had to have super strength to rip the head off. And there are vampire bite holes all over. Unless it's from a bb gun but I highly doubt that." Blake replied. "You highly doubt it being something realistic? So vampires are just, naturally in your vocabulary?" I asked. "Okay can we get away from this smelly cow... It's givin me the creeps." Laura added as she remained a little further from the deceased animal than the rest of us. "Yeah, I'm with her on that one." I said as I stepped away from it. Justin just sighed and stood up, as did Blake. "So how is that supposed to help us?" Jen asked. "Well... I dont think it's a coincedence that a cow was brutally attacked right in front of this school... What if someone camps out here.." Blake said. "And by someone... You mean a thirsty vampire?" I asked. He just nodded. "Well... It makes sense, we passed a barn right up the road. So if a vampire was hiding out here, then an abandoned building like this right up the road from a barn is perfect." Justin said. "Can we just please go inside? It doesnt feel right out here." Laura said. "You'd feel more comfortable in that building? If you say so.." I said as I zipped open her bag on her back and pulled out a pocket knife that we brought. "Come on, it will be ok." Luke said with a small smile as he extended his hand to Laura's. She just smiled and took it as we all searched for a place we could enter the building. "There are no open windows or doors... We may need to smash a window." Justin said as he came back from the other side of the building. I just looked around for a big rock, which didnt take long at all. I tried to lift it but my struggling was hard to cope with. "I got it." Blake said as he lifted it up and threw it at a side window. "We're in." Luke said with a smile as one by one we carefully climed into the building. "Damn it!" Laura screeched as she held her hand in pain. She cut her hand open on the glass from the broken window while trying to climb in. "Oh my god are you okay? Here, you're bleeding." Luke said as he took his white t-shirt off to wrap around her wound, leaving him in just a black tank top. "Thank you." She said with a smile as we took in our surroudings. "This place is sick." Justin said as he looked around. "Hey, we should go find the spot where that kid died!" Justin said with a voice of excitement. "Are you insane? Oh hell no. I'm waitin right here." I said. "Yeah, I'm gonna wait here too." Laura added. "Alright.. We'll be back then." Jen said as she followed the guys, leaving just Laura and I. "Is your hand ok? Let me take a look." I said as I slowly helped her get Luke's shirt off of it, which was now drenched in blood. "Oh my god... What happened to the cut?! It was really deep it couldnt have healed that fast!" Laura yelled with a panicked and confused voice. "Are you sure you didnt just scrape it?" I asked as I softly ran my fingers over her completely healed hand. "I'm positive. This is not normal." Laura replied. "Um... Well, there are only a few things that can regenerate skin that fast..." I said, realizing I'm being the worst kind of hypocrite for going to the place Blake did. "No. I-I'm not a vampire." She defended, knowing what I was getting at. Just then we heard a loud slamming noise, which startled the both of us. "Guys?" We both called in unison. Once no one answered we sighed and slowly began to try and find them. I held the pocket knife tight in hand, you never know what's lurking in this building. Once we got to the second floor, Laura stopped me. "Carly.. Can I see that knife?" She asked. I just furrowed my eyebrows but gave in, slowly handing it to her. She just brought the knife to her wrists and slit it, causing blood to drip from her skin. "What are you doing?!" I yelled. "Testing your theory." She said as she brought her lips to her wrist and began to suck up the blood. Once she brought her mouth away from the gash, she had fangs with blood on her mouth. I quickly backed away, scared out of my mind. "L-Laura... You're a vampire!" I said as I continued to back away, just hoping she was still, well... Herself.
