"Come on, MC! We're going to Hogsmeade before it gets dark!" Poppy tugged on your robe to exit the doors. Natty and Imelda weren't too far behind as we all ran through the courtyard.

"Can't we just Floo Flame over there?" You asked.

"What's the fun in that?" Natty answered. "Adventure awaits!"

"Ugh! After fifth year I've had enough adventure. Can't we just spend our last year relaxing?" A part of you was joking, but another part of you was serious.

"Let's fly there! Last one there can buy the butterbeer." Imelda suggested. Of course she'd be the one to want to fly.

"Did I hear butterbeer?"

You turned around to see Sebastian and Ominis sitting on the bench as you passed. Instead of stopping you kept going, this time running faster down the trail.

"If you want to join us, better get up now or you'll be the one buying!" You shouted.

You saw Sebastian grab Ominis to run and join you.

When you arrived to Hogsmeade you were all out of breath and sweaty. Despite the workout, you all agreed to run the old fashioned way to see who would win. You could have easily gone faster but you knew you were the only one with enough galleons to treat everyone- so you stayed behind until everyone reached the bridge.

"MC I thought you could run faster than that!" Sebastian panted when you finally caught up to everyone.

"I guess I'm just tired." You shrugged. Natty gave you a knowing look before giggling.
"Butterbeers on her! Lets go!"

Sirona welcomed you with a smile as you entered. With a wave of her wand, pints of butterbeer landed on a table nearby and you all happily sat down to drink.

"Ah the taste of victory!" Imelda exclaimed.

You laughed as everyone drank and chatted about the upcoming year. It was hard to believe that you arrived only 2 years ago with no knowledge of Hogwarts...all to discover about your ancient magic and grow stronger every day. There was still a lot to do and learn but you were excited to see what will happen when you all graduate.

"Oh, bugger, I forgot I needed to pick something up for Professor Sharp at J. Pippins."

With the new year starting Professor Weasley suggested you assist all the professors with tasks to continue your training. You're not sure for what, or how running errands would help, but she had done so much for you already that you did not question it.

You put your pint down and stood up.

"You guys can stay here, I'll be right back!"

"Don't be too long, it's getting dark, we should head back after a drink or two."

"Yes mother." You answered to Natty.

When you walked through the doors you realized it really was getting darker already, were you in there that long?

You stepped forward to head to J. Pippins but were blocked by a crowd of children watching Ernie Lark play his multiple instruments. He has gotten pretty popular since the first time you saw him in Hogsmeade.

You didn't want to bother the show so you stepped around to walk behind the other shops. You were surprised by the crowds tonight, your usual path was blocked by people chatting and sign holders dancing.

You finally found a path to go clearly through, you started to run forward to avoid the people until you ran into a tall figure in the dark.

"Oof." Was the only sound you could make when you fell on your butt. "I'm sorry, I-"

You stopped talking when you looked up and saw Rookwood staring back at you. You've seen him before and dealt with his patsies but it was a rare occurrence to be in front of him. You knew of all the stories and rumors about him but never dealt with him yourself.
His robe was a deep blue, his lapels were wide and embroidered intricately with copper buttons and the cuffs were large and exaggerated. He finished off his look with a red vest and a comically tall top hat.
You could see the blue in his eyes even in the dark, the stubble of his beard surrounded his mouth as he scowled at you

He continued to look down at you as you picked yourself up.

"Watch where you're going, child." He turned to walk away, you're not sure if it was the butterbeer or his sheer rudeness, but you felt like being rude back.

"If I'm a child then you're an old man!" You responded.

He stopped in his tracks and turned slowly, his scowl now angry.

"Excuse me?" His voice was deep and coarse, it made part of you want to step back, but you kept your ground.

"You heard what I said. Rookwood."

He stepped closer to you now, the gravel beneath his feet crunched, his wand readied at his side.

As he approached he glared at you until he realized who you were- then his eyes widened in surprise

"You..."

"In the flesh..." You've spent the last 2 years taking down his men and ruining his crime rings. Of course he knew who you were.

Behind him you saw another man turn to the alley where you both stood.

"Rookwood!" He ran forward and unleashed his wand. Before he got closer Rookwood raised his hand to stop him.

"Not now, Nathaniel...we have other things to worry about."

Nathaniel hesitantly put his wand away as Rookwood steps back from you.

"Until we meet again...clumsy child."

You silently watched the both of them walk away. Rookwood turned his face to the side to glance at you again before disappearing around the corner.

"...Your hat is stupid." Is all you managed to say in the moment.

The last thing you were expecting was to literally run into Victor Rookwood in Hogsmeade. Things have been so peaceful lately, you hope this wasn't a sign of the opposite about to come.
