Summary:
Kanata goes into the clearing in his neighborhood park to fetch Ayaka's earring that blew away, much to his dismay. While looking for said earring, a harmless mosquito bites his hand, and he kills it, paying it no mind. At the end of the day, he has an odd dream/nightmare, one that leaves him out of breath with pure fear radiating through his whole body. But a certain painter seems to have the same exact dream as well... What could it mean...?

The blaring sound of an alarm clock rang through the boy's ears, making his dark violet and light lavender eyes snap open. Kanata reached his arm over to his bedside table and clicked the alarm off with ease. He sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. His bare feet made contact with the icy hardwood floor and he internally shivered at the touch. Going about his normal morning routine, he kept checking in on his younger brother Sumihiko to try and wake him up. Every time he came back, however, the young boy was still fast asleep.

Kanata wasn't really annoyed at this like he usually would be though, as it was a weekend and they didn't have anywhere important to be. He was eating his breakfast, staring at his phone screen to see if Touko would start texting him. But alas, the older girl did not. He concurred that she was either sleeping in or doing something important.

Because he had nothing to do and no one to talk to at the moment, he was just aimlessly walking around the house. Sumihiko was still asleep, his father was off at his business, and his mother was at the bakery.

He slipped on a sweater vest and his non-school outdoor shoes before grabbing his phone from the kitchen counter and leaving, shutting the door behind him. He walked down the sidewalk with both hands in his pockets, head facing towards the sky, wind whipping through his hair. It was a beautiful day- the sky had finally cleared after the storm last night leaving a clear, fresh smell in the air. Speaking of the air, Kanata stopped his walk to take a deep breath in through his nose, relishing the crispness before starting up his walk once more.

He was feeling off lately, even before the earthquakes started. It wasn't really like him to feel uneasy, so it scared him; and it also wasn't like him to feel scared either.

Back on track, he stopped at the park. There was something calling him, yet again. It always happened when he got to his neighborhood park. It was like a string was attached to his chest, slowly pulling him forward like a puppet. But instead of fighting the tugging, he followed with it. Today it led him straight to the clearing. It was an odd thing to find in such an urban neighborhood like his- it was completely surrounded by tall wisteria trees. They looked quite old- as if they had been planted more than a hundred years ago.
