CHAPTER 9 " Runaway Bride "

( Charlotte returned to the church just in time she is seated beside Her mother then her children )

Violet: Lottie, dear, you've returned. How's Anthony may I ask?

Charlotte: he's quite alright

Violet: quite alright?

Charlotte: he's excited Mama

Violet: oh

( Minutes later the Wedding has started )

( Anthony has entered the church, he looked at his family but when his eyes met Charlotte's he looked away immediately. Then Kate Sharma entered and Charlotte definitely saw how Anthony's eyes changed when he sees her )

( It was the Brides turn to walk down the isle escorted by her Mother, Lady Mary )

Archbishop: Please be seated.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this congregation, to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony. And therefore, it is not by any to be enterprised, nor taken in hand, unadvisedly, lightly, and wantonly, to satisfy men's carnal lusts and appetites, like brute beasts that have no understanding... But reverently, discreetly, advisedly...

( When the Archbishop was asking Anthony a question he suddenly cannot answer )

Archbishop: My lord. My Lord.

( Anthony was distracted by Kate )

Archbishop: I, Lord Anthony Bridgerton

( Just then Miss Kate Sharma dropped one of her bracelets and it caused a distraction to the people especially Anthony. He even helped her get her bracelet which made the audience suspicious especially the Bridgertons )

( Charlotte stared at them as they looked at each other's eyes )

Archbishop: might I continue?

Anthony: My apologies.

Kate: My apologies.

Archbishop: Viscount, repeat after me.

( But everyone seems to notice that Miss Edwina is likely not herself )

Edwina: I need a moment!

/ Everyone gasped /

( And Miss Edwina ran away, followed by her mother then Miss Sharma )

Hyacinth: what has happened?

Gregory: I think she ran away

Charlotte: Calm yourselves. Anne take the children now.

( Anne quickly held the children's hands and went outside immediately )

/ Fireworks popping /

Daphne: oh, my word!

Charlotte: we shall go as well

( Charlotte called Anthony and Benedict )

Charlotte: Anthony, Benedict let's go, My sincere apologies, your Majesty, but I think me and my family shall need some talking too. Family let's make haste

( The Bridgertons went back to the room after all the drama )

Violet: does this have anything to do with our dinner with the Sheffields the other evening? Or perhaps some even greater issue has come to pass that we must discuss, Anthony?

Benedict: Miss Edwina is merely agitated. She will come to her senses.

Colin: Miss Edwina does seem to have a delicate constitution. Perhaps fresh air will be just the thing.

Benedict: flask.

Eloise: perhaps the archbishop's talk of lifelong covenants overwhelmed her. Perhaps she realized that marriage is, in fact, a prison for women.

Colin: ugh. Must you always be so... you?

Eloise: how else should I be? Married and silent?

Gregory: perhaps she decided she must change into a different dress.

Hyacinth: that is absurd. She looked beautiful.

Daphne: perhaps we should allow Anthony a little respite.

Benedict: Brother, is that what you need?

( Anthony and Charlotte shared an eye contact which Violet saw )

Anthony: precisely.

( Anthony leaves the room, and Charlotte had an eye contact with her mother )

Charlotte: what?

Violet: you know something.

Charlotte: I do not.

Violet: Charlotte, you may be a countess, but you are still my daughter. Tell me what you know.

( Charlotte couldn't help it and told her family what she saw that evening at Aubrey Hall, they were all shocked especially Violet she never knew it was Kate and Anthony that would have feelings for each other )
