Kenna's POV:
To say that I am nervous is the understatement of the century. I am currently laying down on the floor of Ophelia's study. She gave me the potion and made me lay down so that I wouldn't get hurt.
"Okay Kenna you will start getting sleepy in a couple of minutes. I have called María and Mario so that they can be witnesses of your memories." Said Ophelia.
"Why do you need witnesses?" I asked her.
"Because it is a requirement from our rulers." Said Ophelia with a small shrug.
Well okay, now I am even more nervous. While I may not know Ophelia that well I was starting to trust her. Plus she knows about my past but this people do not and I am not going to be awake to see their reactions.
I heard the door to the study open so I looked towards it and saw Mario and María. But someone else came into the study. It was the man that had brought me here. Why is he here?
"Áedh why are you here?" Asked Ophelia to the intruder. He just gave her a stern stare.
"I was sent by the Fire Circle as their witness." Said the guard, that I now know is named Áedh.
This man was handsome. He had glossy black hair deep, brown eyes and pale skin. He was built, he had muscle everywhere. At the moment he had a black shirt and black jeans paired with black combat boots.
I must say I was staring at him, but then I remember he was the person that brought me here. Because of him I am in an even bigger mess than I was before. That's why shouldn't be thinking about how handsome he is but just be mad at him...
I was starting to feel sleepy, which means the potion must be working. This is it, everyone is going to know everything about me and I won't be able to stop it.
"Ahh... she is starting to fall asleep." I heard María say.
"Remember Kenna this is just a deep sleep, try to be as relax as possible." I think I heard Ophelia say but I was too far gone.
White, everything around me was white. I could not see anything. Did something go wrong while I was sleeping? Why can't I see anything?
"Hello! Ophelia!" I yelled but got no response.
You have got to be kidding me! Then out of nowhere I am back in the orphanage. It was the day before I was meant to leave. I was currently in the room that I shared with the younger kids.
"Kenna! You are finally awake!" I heard someone say.
I looked down and saw a tiny girl, I remember her. The little girl was Tina, she was the newest addition to the orphanage. She was still bubbly and bright, but I know that it will change soon. The little girl threw her small hands around my legs and hugged them tight.
"Tina if you hug my legs like that I will not be able to walk." I said to the little girl. She pouted at me but released my legs. The little girls, Tina, couldn't be more the four years old.
"Can you carry me Kenna?" Asked Tina and gave me the puppy eyes. I gave her a small smile and nodded my head.
I grabbed Tina and decided to get breakfast, well at least to try and find something for Tina. Hopefully I can find something for her to eat, she is so small and needs to eat as much as she can since she is still growing.
"Where are we going Kenna?" Asked Tina.
"To see if we can find something so that you can eat." Said to Tina. That made her clap her hands, this little girl loved to eat.
Yet I do not know if she will be able to eat. I do not know if she will survive this orphanage. The only thing that I can do is help her while I am here because when I leave I do not know if I'll survive the night.
We made it to the kitchen and it was full of kids. Everyone was guarding their food like their life's depended on it and it did.
I headed towards the fridge to see if we had anything left to eat but when I opened it I was left with nothing. I decided to check the cupboards but I was once again met with nothing.
"There isn't any food left..." I heard Tina say, I could barely hear her because she said it so low.
"Yeah there isn't any food left." I said to her. She looked at me as to see what I would do now but didn't say anything.
"Kenna I see that Tina is with you." I heard a voice say behind me.
When I turned around I was met with the head of the orphanage. She was an intimidating woman. She was the reason for most of my nightmares. This woman liked to abuse us both physically and emotionally.
"Mistress." I said with my head lowered so she would not think I was disrespecting her.
"Has little Tina eaten?" She asked me. I shook my head.
"No she has not Mistress." I said to her. She made an angry sound and hit the counter.
"And why is that Kenna." She said in an angry tone. I could feel her glare, she was really angry for some reason.
"There isn't any food left." I said to her and took a step back. My comment made her slam her hands on the counter and then she said the words that terrified me the most.
"My office Kenna, you should know better than anyone that the kids must all be fed." Said the Mistress. Here is where my nightmare begins...
