So many times in our lives, we're led to believe what is and is not the greater good. Where is there ever a middle ground, one to stand for the weak, and against the strong? One who connects hearts, while also strengthening those who have suffered?
These new...creatures, Alters...no. These...people, are still part of us. They deserve just as much love as we give to other humans.
We always look for hope in one side or the other...but not see a balance. I will be the one to set that balance. The balance these Alters need for their rights.
Vote for me, Quency Aversz. As your new mayor for 2044.
Bryson looks at the ad playing on the holographic screen on the side, as he chuckles to himself. "Yeah...right. Like they'd ever believe you." He puts in his earbuds as he plays a calm, steady beat song, looking around as the snow drifts perfectly with the bus carefully riding along its day-to-day path.
Since a new discovery in 2025, humans now had a way to gene splice animal's DNA into humans, either by the animal of their choice, with limitations set by the government, or from an automatic analyzer, which pairs a user to the animal they most closely resemble to.
Alters still had not been fully accepted in society, many people creating derogatory terms, and having intense hate for these new creatures.
Despite the hate, these new Alters have been thriving in society on their own accord, working hard, using their new animalistic abilities every day, and making a life worth living for future Alters.
The weather was always perfect in this part of town, at least to the ones that are used to it. The streets were clear, but still slightly slippery.
Children seen laughing and playing in the snow, along with the Alter cubs, and kits alike. Smiles seen all around, as couples record their kids and kits with the newest phone.
The old couple who always lovingly walks together, and smile deeply when they are talking to each other, not even a piece of tech in sight, plus they adored the children and always gave them sweet treats. Even they, decided to become Alters. Very interesting to see gray fur with the naked eye.
Although Bryce loved technology, something about that deep and innocent love made him smile and chuckle. "Heh...wish I had what they had."
Along with his love with technology, his father's company helped in that love. Cladeware Biotech was a majorly successful institute that gave the enhanced uses of biomechanical replacements limbs, and even upgrades. With the growing popularity, however, the military bought part of Cladeware and now uses it for military weapons and prosthetics, even as far as to prototype new androids based on the "Protogen" series, for use in battle.
Bryson was nodding along with his music as he internally monologued, riding the bus home from school to save on fuel for his truck. It was his last day of school before graduation, although he didn't feel complete, not yet at least.
Bryson adored the Alters, he wish he could go through with the procedure, but every animal DNA he tried was not a correct match for him. Bear, canine, feline, none of them showed a positive reaction would occur. He even tried the auto analyzer, and yet, no luck.
Despite Bryce being down about this discovery, he already had a few advantages over other humans. His strength, most of all, along with his determination.
Bryce stroked the back of his head as he thinks about his upcoming birthday in a few weeks, his nineteenth to be exact. He was going to be 'boring' as he called it, by just asking for new parts for his old truck.
