BEFORE THE WORLD ENDED, Juliette read a lot. She still does, because now there's really nothing else to do, but she doesn't read because there's nothing else to do. Between the few channels her mother was able to pay for on the television, and the many electronics coming out as technology advanced, she was never able to get her hands on any of it. Sure, she had a flip phone, but she wasn't able to do much of anything on there unless absolutely necessary to avoid raising the phone bill. She had never been one for doing sports, nor was she athletic, so going outside never been her cup of tea either. She didn't have any school extracurriculars, knowing she didn't have time for it when she was expected to babysit her little sister Rory while their mother worked. So, when you have absolutely nothing else going on in your life, and you're too broke to do anything, what would you do? Read. Or, at least, that was Juliette's answer.
Jules read any and everything she was able to get her hands on. Going to the public library in her neighborhood ensured she wouldn't have to pay a bunch of expenses to continue her hobby, so she would take multiple books home at once, read them all within a couple of weeks, and return them to get more books. It was a cycle Jules enjoyed, and not just because she had nothing else to do. She was able to indulge in her love of sea life, mainly getting books so she could study various things associated with the ocean for no particular reason other than for fun. Now, there were times she was able to splurge and actually buy books, so when she got a little bit of money from her mother, she went to the cheapest bookstore she knew: a comic book store not far from the library. She was able to get a bunch of comic issues for a low price, and reading about superheroes were decently fun and entertaining for the most part.
That puts Juliette here, in her current mental predicament. She hates that she doesn't have superpowers, because really any superpower right now would help her out tremendously. Super speed would be lovely, never having to worry about getting bit by a geek. Flight would also come in handy, knowing she could just hang out far above everyone and everything. Really, any superpower would take away most of her worries. Thus, currently, the specific object of her annoyance is that she has an inability to control other people's minds. Case in point (not to toot her own horn) she believes that if she were to control the minds of some of the campers (not to name any names) the jobs would get done much quicker and efficiently. Now, the group had to take a detour, had to put their lives into unnecessary danger because of one camper. Not that she was going to name any names.
Completely unrelated to her earlier thoughts, she also happens to hold a disdain towards the two Dixon brothers constantly disregarding everyone else's physical and mental wellbeing, only ever seeming to worry about themselves. She knew, to an extent, that worrying about yourself more than others was a huge factor between life and death in this world, but the Dixons.. take it a step too far for her personal liking. In her head, she had assigned Daryl and Merle dixon as two spawns of Satan himself, two grumpy older men who probably haven't spoken to a single woman outside of their immediate family (if they even had an immediate family—she wouldn't be surprised if they had a rough upbringing).
