Clare looked around one last time before entering Jake's room. Jake's room was mostly empty, looking exactly like the ones that the new kids got when they first came. She reminded herself why she was there. She needed the card chip to get into the forbidden room. She looked around, checking under the bed, inside the closet and at last in the drawer. When she opened the lowest and last drawer, her heart was beating furiously, almost hopping out of her chest. She was really hoping the card chip would be there, but when she looked in it, it was empty.

Suddenly the door slammed open behind her. It was Jake.

-"What the hell are you doing in my room?" Jake yelled at her.

-"Uhh...well..." She started, when Kaleb walked up behind Jake and grabbed his shoulder.

She was sure she could see him wink his eye at her when he grabbed Jake's shoulder, so she trusted him.

-"Hey, dude. I need help with the vending machine. It's not working properly. I think it's broken." Kaleb said, sighing.

-Can't you see I'm busy talking to Clare right now?" Jake said, anger being portrayed clearly in his voice.

-"Yeah, I know, but this is very important! Pleaseeeeeee?" Kaleb begged.

-"Why didn't you ask the guards?" Jake asked.

-"They were all busy." Kaleb frowned.

-"Fine then. I'll just have to talk to Clare later." Jake said, turning his head towards Clare, sending her a death glare.

At that point, Clare was about to laugh.

Jake finally walked off with Kaleb trailing behind him to get to the vending machine right outside of Kaleb's room.

'It's lucky that this happened in this exact moment.' Clare thought to herself while continuing her search. 'I'm so happy that Kaleb's room is at the other end of the hallway.'
