Minho
You were there, sitting on the white sand of this beach. You were looking at the sky, tears on your cheeks, shivering every time a wave touched your toes. You stayed there, contemplating the dark sky, announcing a not-so-far-away rain.
That same sky made my dad come back to the coast. The sea would become way too agitated in a moment.
I already knew you would stay there, shivering in silence while your breath would became erratic. You would watch the waves crash against the rocks around the shore of this Australian coast
You wouldn't move until the morning, you wouldn't sleep either, you would stay there, in a silence that said way more than all the cries of the world, looking at me with your fearful eyes, begging me to get you out of here.
But how could I save you, when you didn't know yourself. When since you were younger, you would fear those waves without ever knowing the reason.
How could you ask me to save you, me who lives off your fear, me who was raised on the agitated sea, who knows every corner of the Pacific Ocean surrounding Australia?
Tell me Christopher, did you only want to be saved?
No, of course, no, since you didn't tempt anything, ever.
I saw you that day, asking my father for my name, I saw the joy on your face while you were repeating it for yourself. The five letters rolling on your tongue, and me, thinking that hearing you saying it was the most beautiful melody that could ever exist.
I also saw you blush when you understood that my father had told me your request, I saw your eyes widen when he told me your name.
Christopher.
Australian, you were Australian, with Korean roots, and I fell in love with your charm, the second we crossed eyes.
So yes, Chris. I'll save you, even if it's the last thing I'll do in my life. I'll save you because I want to take you fishing in the Pacific Ocean's waters, I'll save you because I want you to discover the Great Barrier Reef. I want to see the stars in the sky reflect themselves in your eyes, and more than anything in the world, I want to make those tears disappear.
So that evening, while once again you were waiting under the dark blue sky for the storm to begin, I joined you, I held you in my arms, while the rain poured on us. I dried your tears while the wind blew your shirt.
And I kissed you because that day, it would be you and I against the world. You and I against that sea that haunted you.
