New place

As soon as we took our first step out of the airplane, the peculiar feeling of a new place came over us.

Our bodies automatically felt so relaxed and at peace, knowing that we get to start our lives on a new page. Looking around, taking in the presence of different types of people surrounding us.

We managed to catch a cab after standing in the airport for half an hour, signaling the cars that drove past us to stop and pick us up.

The car was nothing like the ones we've seen before, there were mini TV-s in the back of every seat, the walls had LED's coloured purple and were blinding us with how bright they were. Long story short it was like a party bus, but instead of a bus it was a regular cab.

Later at the apartment complex...

As we opened the door, our jaws dropped in awe. The place was huge. "I can't believe this is real" said Carmen, a smile plastered on her face.
Laura looked around in silence taking in the sight of our new home.

I immediately rushed to look out the window, the view looked like one of those landscape tiktoks that gained millions of likes, it looked too good to be true."All of those lights are a person living their own lives, dealing with their own problems and living their lives to the fullest." I thought.

After unpacking our stuff, we sat at the kitchen table.

All of us jetlagged from the flight before, exhaustion finally getting the best of us.

"You ִguys do know that the best way to get over jetlag is to stay awake as long as possible?" said Laura.

"Yeah, but what are we gonna do to pass the time? There's pretty much nothing to do here."
I questioned, cupping my face with both hands, a deep sigh leaving my mouth.

"Guys! we're literally in Las Vegas! The city where all the craziest parties take place."Carmen remarked with a smirk on her face.

"You guys can go, Imma stay in and study, wouldn't want to drop out of my new school so fast now, would I?" Laura said with a nonchalant shrug.

Carmen and I rolling our eyes at that statement. "You do you girl." we said, starting to get ready for the night out.

Walking down the streets, loud music filling our ears and lights flashing brightly into our eyes,  desperately looking for a place to spend our night in.

Carmen shot her eyes open"There! That one looks like fun!" with joy in her tone, grabbing my arm and running towards the place.

The gust of wind hitting my face from how fast we were going.

The place looked sketchy, the walls were made out of bricks, some of them itching to fall off and collapse the whole thing, some people smoking pot out in front  and others throwing up from drinking too much.

*****

Loud club music banging in our ears and sweaty people rubbing themselves against us as we made our way through the crowd.Sitting down at the two  vacant seats we saw by the bar.

We took a few shots to start the night off and celebrate us moving here.
"I'm so excited to be in Las Vegas, especially with you guys!" I said, Carmen nodding in agreement "Me too! I still can't believe this is real."
After a few cocktails, the dizziness got to me, my hearing was muffled, eyes almost completely closed, feeling my body heat up due to the large amount of alcohol in my system.

"Hey, Imma be right back, gonna head to the bathroom real quick." I said, slurring almost all of my words, but to my surprise Carmen understood.
