"Mime, mimee."
At Cerise Park, Professor Cerise, Chloe, Katrina, and Gou, along with their Pokemon, were doing martial arts led by Mr. Mime. "Nice and slow..." Gou said. "Why do I have to be here?" Chloe asked. "If it's good for you, why not? There's nothing like a little martial arts in the morning." Professor Cerise replied. "Honestly." Chloe sighed. "I'll tell you, it's not that easy. How does Mr. Mime stay so steady?" Gou wondered. "Mr. Mime has a strong sense of balance." Katrina replied. Yamper ran past them barking, and Eevee followed. "Scorbunny, why don't you go play?" Gou suggested. "Scor scor!" Scorbunny started chasing Yamper around, and Eevee chased him.
"Like this?" Gou asked, doing a pose. "Mime mime mime." Mr. Mime shook his head. "Mime!" He then gestured to Metapod, who laying peacefully still. "Like that?!" "You've got to be kidding." Chloe sighed. "Yup, exactly." her father said. Yamper and Eevee ran past it, and Scorbunny chased them, kicking Metapod into the air. It fell on the rock with a loud crack.
"Uh.." The Professor stared. "I though I just head a weird noise." Chloe said. "If I remember correctly, inside a Metapod's shell is..." Katrina stopped. "Ahh!"
"This is awful! Are you alright?!" the Professor exclaimed, petting a boulder. "Please calm down!" "You're talking to a rock!" Chloe and Katrina shouted. Gou clutched Metapod, who had swirls in it's eyes. "Metapod, are you hurt?" Metapod looked at Gou with one starry eye. "Oh thank goodness..."
"Gou! Kat!"
Gou and Katrina caught their bags reflexively as they were thrown at them, and Scorbunny barely caught the abandoned falling Metapod. "Hoenn region, here we come!" "Pika, pika pika chu!"
"Huh?"

"Announcing the Battle Frontier Flute Cup! Featuring the greatest trainers and the strongest Pokemon! Each trainer will use two Pokemon per battle as they rise through the ranks!"
Ash, Katrina, and Gou walked through the town, passing large digital signs, which displayed five flutes. "And the winner will receive this beautiful five-color flute set! I want you to enter! Now don't be shy! Let's have a Pokemon battle!" the girl on screen exclaimed.
"I get it now. Wait, Ash, have you chosen your Pokemon yet?" Gou asked, turning to the one who'd dragged them there. "Yep! Pikachu and..." Ash threw a pokeball into the air. "Mime mime!" "...Mimey!" "Hey, it's Mr. Mime. Hmm...Wait, you chose Mr. Mime?! But, can he even battle?" Gou asked. Mr. Mime looked at him deviously. "Yeah, what's up with that sinister grin?"
Katrina and Ash laughed. "Let's deal with that...later." Gou translated from Mr. Mime's miming. "...No! Let's deal with it right now! I can't wait until later!" he exclaimed. "So, which two are you gonna use, huh?" Ash asked Gou. "Huh? Well, I chose Scorbunny and Scyther." Gou replied, turning to Katrina. "What about you?" "Oh, well, I don't think I'll be competing." Katrina said. "Huh? Why not?" Gou asked. "Well, I'm not really in the mood for a battle. Besides, you're the only one Ash entered in." she explained. Ash looked at them sheepishly. "What's that about?!" Gou asked. "Well, your battle mood does change, so I wasn't sure..." Ash grinned at Katrina. "This'll be so fun! I'm so fired up!" he exclaimed. "Pika chuu!"
"So, I guess you're really into Pokemon battles, huh?" Gou said. "You won't find anyone more into them than him." Katrina grinned. "Yeah! It's kinda hard to explain it, but it's like with my Pokemon at my side, there's nothing I can't do! How about you?" Ash asked Gou. "Well, I'm not sure. I still don't know much about it..." Gou replied. "There you go, talking like that again! You're here to compete, right?" Ash said. "That's because you entered me into the competition without my permission!" Gou exclaimed. "Well, that too, but..."
