It wasn't love at first sight. It took a full five minutes

A/N: Hi huns, welcome to my new book. In this chapter there will be a lot of text conversation because it's how they met, and it's important for the chapter. The fic won't be centred around texts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was born in Yemen and lived with my mom Norma and my brother Karl, as my father had left before I was born. I don't remember much of it, we fled the country when I was two. Just years after the reunification of Yemen, the unintegrated armies of the north and the south had a lot of disagreements that resulted in a civil war.

My mom made the brave decision to leave, and searched for exile everywhere, we ended up moving to Brazil, since the country was very open to immigrants and my mom had an aunt that lived here. We've been living in São Paulo ever since. My mom said it was really hard to learn Portuguese, which I can imagine because it has a lot of rules and variations, but since my brother and I moved when we were kids for us, it was fine.

I was now finishing my college degree in Cinema, I always loved arts even tho I wanted to be a scientist when I was little. I had always been a nerd and didn't have many friends at school, but the ones I had were good ones, I always excelled at school, but the subject where I shone the most was art. When I was fourteen I watched Mulholland Drive and that did something to me, I've decided that this is what I wanted to do.

The road till now wasn't easy, we got to this country with absolutely nothing and grew up in poverty. My mom always put emphasis on our education, so she sent me and my brother to a school on the other side of the town because it was better and in a nicer neighbourhood. Sometimes I had to skip school because we didn't have money for the bus, and on these occasions since my brother was older and couldn't skip school he would have to walk almost two hours to get there.

I owe much to Karl, he was eight years older than me and as a teenager, he worked to help my mom out. Even though he earned very little, he always spent money with me, buying me clothes, toys, school materials and everything my mom could not afford. He also taught me a lot, he taught me grammar and maths before I even got into school, so when I finally got in I was already very advanced in comparison to the other kids.

I was always at the top of my class and this continued until I graduated, I was able to get a full scholarship because I got into second place for my college with my national exam score. I'm very grateful to both of them for supporting and believing in me. I've had multiple jobs already since I also started working as a teen, but now I was finally working with cinema, what I love.

My family's situation improved a lot too, we were by no means rich, but now we were able to live in a nice neighbourhood and buy superficial things we wanted to, a luxury we didn't have before. Now it was only me and my mom, as Karl had moved out with his girlfriend.

On my free time I liked to make music, paint, watch movies, photography, but when I wasn't in the mood for any of those things I liked to just stay in bed and read stories on Wattpad. One night I was on Wattpad as usual and had just posted a chapter to my story. A couple of months ago I decided to start writing, mainly to improve my writing skills in English and also because as I read other stories, many ideas came to my head.

I started writing about Debbie and Lou from Ocean's 8, they're gay and no one can tell me otherwise. Also, I had a massive crush on Cate Blanchett, even tho she had the age to be my mom. A couple of hours after posting it, I received a message from someone, I've recognized their profile because they always comment and read my stories. I also read and love their Loubbie stories.
