Even though it was as if cold water had been poured on her, in front of the two customer, she was able to control her voice so, as not to be noticed.
Finally, the beautiful woman turned to Leah. She smiled with her dark red lips, making her eyes even brighter. "We will take it. Can you wrap it for us?"
"Sure Ma'am, thank you." Leah smile and nod at her.
Leah picked up the five watches and said, "I will be right back." Her voice was a husky whisper.
Leah went to the counter, so she could wrap the gift. Noticing that the man was following her.
"Here.."
When the man handed over his black credit card. She couldn't help but to look straight in his eyes. But this man is ruthless, he showed her a sharp look, it was like a knife that cut her heart into pieces. Was the man able to identify the sales clerk?
The woman who was sitting in a distance did not know that there was a moment of conflict between the sales clerk and her companion. The conflict between the two ended a long time ago, but seems to be bringing them back together, in the past.
"Ahmm. Sorry Sir.." she cleared her throat.
Leah took his credit card in his hand. But at first it made her suffer. The card was firmly stuck on his fingers, causing her not to get it easily, so for the second time she looked into his eyes again.
"Have you ever been told by your manager not to look into the customer's eyes, especially if it's a man?"
A soft voice but firm when speaking, for others it makes proud, but for Leah it's a heads up, realizing that she was assisting a male customer.
"Sorry Sir, I forgot" Leah bowed in shame.
"Say please...." The man said.
Leah couldn't do anything, but to follow, she was afraid that she might be reported to the manager today, for customer issues.
"Please..." Leah said and looked directly to his hand, which holding the credit card. Right after, the man let her get it.
Knowing there would be no problem, the three-hundred-eight-thousand pesos purchase price would be approved. Leah smirked, thinking he could have bought three watches without any issue.
"Mr. Guzman, would you please sign the receipt?" She reaches for it without looking at him.
Despite her hair being styled in a high pile on top of her head and wearing high heels, she still barely reached his shoulder in height. As the man confidently took the pen and scribbled his signature in bold handwriting, his long and lean fingers lightly brushed against hers when he handed back the receipt, causing a sudden surge of electricity to course through her body.
Taking a deep breath, Leah handed back to him his credit card with her two hands holding for it, showing that she handed it to him carefully. She pressed her lips in a force smile, then the man quietly took his credit card and suddenly turned away.
Leah carefully arranged the watches in a small red paper box. Her fingers felt rigid as she struggled to fasten the bow on the paper bag. Making a conscious effort to shake off her daze, she eventually succeeded in tying a tidy bow with the gold ribbon. Next, she placed the box into a red paper bag, and gave it to the woman.
The woman smiled and as she accepted it. Leah went to get woman's mink. As Frank walked behind, he accepted the coat from her outstretched hand without looking at her.
Leah couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness as she watched him assist the stunning woman to wear her luxurious mink coat.
In return, Leah handed Frank his own coat, but he swiftly took it without even acknowledging her presence. When everything was in order, Leah took the lead and guided the couple out of the store, accompanying them all the way to the front door. She bowed her head as she said,"Thank you for coming Ma'am and Sir"
The two step out the store without saying a word, until Lea saw his hand on the woman's back. Leah stood there watching as they got into a car.
The man never looked back to her, or said anything else. Perplexed by the chance encounter, Leah stood there long after the car pulled away, wishing it had just been a dream.
Deep inside, Lea's heart sank! This whole encounter had been so disturbing, she needed to sit down for a moment. Luckily, her co-worker returned from her break, so Leah could hide her tears.
She walked directly into the employee's room, as the uncontrollable tears flows from her eyes, her hands is trembling, and her body become cold. She poured a cup of coffee and sat down, wrapping both hands around the mug to take in the warmth from the cup, the steam rising.
She went to think over, what had just happened.
There was a man who in love with her before. She remember him since the couple arrive in the store. A sadness she thought gone crept over her. At one time, he'd loved her and now? he was engaged to marry another woman.
When Leah's shift was almost over, she walked back to the private showing room to push in the chairs and clean up. His scent lingered in the air, for a moment, her chest ached with the familiar tightening of missing him.
When the time is up. Leah punched her time card, removed her high heels and placed them in their cotton dust bag, and slipped into her inexpensive shoes.
The rain continued to pour down, prompting her to open up her trusty umbrella before embarking on her journey down the street from where she lived.
It was dark outside. But Leah didn't even mind it as she walked to the subway, hoping she could catch the last trip of MRT train going to Quezon. Her mind is fully loaded as she walked to the subway.
However Frank de Guzman sat in the back of his car next to a woman. He had no idea what the woman chatted on about-not since he had seen the salesclerk at the jewelry store.
It was Leah, How could it be? He think about her a multiple times since they left the store.
When he first saw her, he'd been surprised, but then, he remembered his anger at Leah and that, he wouldn't even acknowledge her!
How he will tell this to the woman next to him now?
Not that he owed anyone's explanation for his behavior. But he was, after all, a man who ran a huge company with a net worth yearly and almost reached 1.5 billion pesos.
Sarah Cacho the woman who was sitting on beside him, and the one who talked to Leah at the store, now turned to him and asked, "I enjoyed today. Will you be staying for dinner?"
"No, as it happens, I have some last-minute business to take care of. I'm going to drop you home and then be on my way."
Sarah didn't have much more to say. Frank bring her until they reached the door of her house.
"Oh, Frank you're here!" George greeted his brother, he is Sarah's fiancé.
"Nice to see you, now Sarah is here I will go now. Take care of her!" Frank said then left.
On his walk, he heard the two were talking behind. "You make me crazy, you know Frank is always busy, but you keep bothering him"
"No honey, it's him who catch me and took me out for shopping,"
