Chapter 5 | "He's mine."

On their way to Baratie, the Straw Hats came across a rather arrogant marine lieutenant who sent a cannonball their way. It wasn't that big of a deal for them as Zoro could easily cut the metal ball in half, Scarlett could swerve the projectile in one swift motion, and Luffy could just catapult it away from the ship.

And so he did. Catapult it, that is.

What was unfortunate was the fact that one of Luffy's grip had slipped, causing him to veer sideways and sending it flying into the restaurant that was then in his course of trajectory.

So there they were, waiting patiently after some cooks dragged Luffy away for compensation- well... Not so patiently, as Nami decided to go there herself to ask what the hell was taking so long. And wanting to know what happened to his captain, Zoro followed after her, which prompted Usopp to tag along as he didn't want to be left alone with the strangers on the ship.

Scarlett and Kuro stayed behind on the ship as Luffy's crew made their way towards Baratie in the Pirate Hunter Bounty Duo's little dinghy. They - read; she - helped Yosaku and Johnny repair the rails that the latter had destroyed in blind rage.

"Thank you for the help, Scar-aneki!" The duo exclaimed as they finally finished mending anything that needed to be restored.

Scarlett merely waved them away and walked over to where Kuro had been lounging around in a hammock while she did all the work. "It's time for lunch, you slacker." She pushed the bundle of cloth over on its side, effectively flipping Kuro off his back.

She whistled in amazement when Kuro managed to land on all fours instead of on his face, "I didn't realize you were an actual cat, Kitty-kun."

Glaring up at her, Kuro lithely rose to his feet and clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Someday, some way," He stared at her with narrowed eyes, "I will make you rue the day you come up with that horrid nickname."

"Sure, sure, Kitty-kun." Scarlett rolled her eyes at his theatrics and urged him to follow her, "Come on, you must starving."

The pair found the members of the Straw Hats sitting around one of the bigger, round dining tables that was already filled with all kinds of dishes. Though Luffy, who somehow had an apron around his waist, wasn't seated with them. He was standing by the table and complaining that they were eating without him.

Scarlett tilted her head when she noticed that Luffy, who was the biggest glutton she ever knew, was still standing by the table even after seeing the amount of food before him. She was quite confused at the sight since he should already be scarfing them down by now.

A moment after, Luffy noticed her entering the restaurant and Scarlett found the answer to her unvoiced question. It turns out that due to the lack of money in Luffy's pockets, the straw-hatted boy had to work in Baratie for a year as to cover the expenses he owed for the broken roof and the injury the cannonball made onto the owner of the restaurant.

Amused at her brother's predicament, Scarlett merely shook her head at him and sat on one of the empty seats on the table since it seemed that they wouldn't be leaving any time soon. Kuro followed her lead and took a seat beside her.

Not long after, a blond guy, who introduced himself as the sous chef of this restaurant, came up to take their orders - Scarlett pointed at some dishes on the menu and Kuro asked for that day's special - and went into the kitchen to get their orders.

Scarlett kept an eye on the sous chef's retreating back, wondering why the guy had seemed familiar. When he returned half an hour later with their respective dishes, Scarlett still couldn't find the answer and decided to just drop it for the moment.
