I Care - Juuzou Suzuya x Reader (Tokyo Ghoul)

You sighed as you stirred your drink with the tiny little baby spoon given to you by your friend, Touka. You sat down by the window at Anteiku, a small but popular cafe. Rumor has it that this cafe was for ghouls or so you've heard from Juuzou. You worked as a CCG Investigator, meaning you go out in search of those terrifying ghouls. The most famous ghoul, also known as Rize, has killed your parents one night when you were younger, and ever since, you were determined to find her and put her down once and for all.

You stared out the window, watching as innocent people walked by, clearly cautious and holding their children close in watch of any suspicious people.

"Tch," You clicked your tongue, watching as Juuzou gobbled down all the sandwiches. You grimaced, "Suzuya..."

"Eh? Oh! Gomenasai, (L/N)-Chan! Did you want some?!" he shouted while climbing over the table and smiling widely, making bread crumbs fall out of his mouth. You shook your head, pushing him back and standing up. You bowed to Touka and the manager, grabbing Juuzou by the arm and walking out the door, hearing the familiar ding of the bell. You sighed, walking along the sidewalk with your hands in your pockets with your hood covering your head from the rain. However, Juuzou was having the time of his life and singing while skipping and jumping into puddles. He twirled around the lamppost and jumped up, skipping in front of you.

"Juuzou-Sama..." You called. He stopped and bent his back so he leaned backwards with his face upside down to look at you. He had this cute concerned but confused look on his face.

"What is it, (L/N)-Chan?"

"I'm nervous for tomorrow..." You rubbed your arms.

"What's to be nervous about?" he stretched himself so he was standing up straight and walked towards you, putting his hands on your arms.

"What if I die tomorrow?" you blurted out. His eyes darkened, but then he smiled.

"Everyone dies, (Y/N). It's normal."

"So you wouldn't really care if I died? You wouldn't even be sad?"

He shook his head. Okay, ouch. That hurt. You scoffed and pushed him away, ignoring his calls and touches. (A/N No I don't mean... Those touches. I mean gripping of the arm or pulling you to his chest and touches like that. Pervs -.-)

Pain. That's all you felt. A foot crashed into your back, pushing you further into the concrete.

"(L/N)-Chan!" a faint voice yelled. You heard someone yell, screaming the Owl's name and clashing his quinque against the Owl's leg. He distracted the Owl enough for you to escape and grab your own quinque, (Q/N) *quinque's name*. The Owl got irritated and kicked Shinohara away and over the edge. You felt yourself being guarded and Arima came and took matters into his own hands.

"Shinohara-Sama!" You shouted, grabbing his arm before he dropped off the edge. He gripped onto your other arm as you struggled to pull him up. Finally, gaining strength, you pulled him up. You both started to run away from the scene of the Owl gobbling down her fallen opponents and Arima getting ready for her attacks.

Dodging every attack possible, you both came to a dead end. One of the Aogiri men, Naki came up behind Shinohara.

"Shinohara!" You pushed him out of the way and felt a kagune pierce through your stomach.

Shinohara growled in anger, "(Y/N)!"

You coughed out blood before Naki removed his kagune out of your stomach painfully. "Shinohara! Run!" You shouted phrases to him, seeing he kept refusing.

"Oh, shut up!" Naki shouted before stabbing your body with his kagune once more before swinging you and throwing you towards a wall.

Shinohara yelled your name once more and then ran to Juuzou.

He found Juuzou in a corner, sitting down in pain as he gripped his quinque.

"Juuzou!" Shinohara yelled, panting and kneeling down beside Juuzou. "Juuzou... I'm sorry," he muttered, patting Juuzou's back. Juuzou looked up from the corner of his eyes in confusion.

"Where's (L/N)-Chan?" he looked around. After meeting Shinohara's tear filled eyes, Juuzou's eyes filled with tears as well.

"No..." He got up, no matter how much pain he was in and ran in your direction, not caring about his ankle anymore.

Mostly everyone... Had died. They risked their lives in order to keep their city safe. To keep the ones they loved... Safe.

Safe. What kind of word is that? No one is safe.

Juuzou moved through the crowd in silence with someone in his arms. Someone who wasn't moving. Blood stained his white button up shirt and arms. His white hair covered his eyes as his feet dragged along the street.

He stopped in front of an ambulance, carefully kneeling down and placing the person he was carrying in his arms on the blanket. He slowly moved the strands of hair away from their face and the doctors led him away as they were to attend the people in need.

A funeral for those lost in battle was happening right now.

Juuzou frowned deeply as tears fell from his eyes when he saw his lover's picture on the projector.

"(Y/N) (L/N), *rank*. She was a kind and brave girl, our most strongest investigator in CCG," the speaker stopped to wipe his tears, "A fellow lover to one of our fellow comrades, a friend. She has risked her lives many times for those she loved."

The funeral went by, sobbing comrades came up to Juuzou and paid their respects to his lover. Giving him hugs and words of encouragement, he felt worse. He felt... Guilty. The last words he said to you were that he wouldn't care if you died. But he did.

He went to your coffin, where your body was laying and fell to his knees. Roses and cards were laid on the bottom of your coffin.

"(L/N)-Chan..." He whimpered, gripping your coffin tightly, "I care.. I do care if you die. I'm sorry..." He looked back up at your body, inspecting the large cut going from your stomach to your shoulder. "I care..." He whispered once more before getting up. He kissed your forehead, cheeks and lips. He smoothed out your hair before leaving the cemetery.

I will not lie, I did cry while writing this.

Sorry for any confusion or errors. This was supposed to be a Shiro!Kaneki Ken x Reader one shot, but there were so many Juuzou moments I decided to make this about him. Also Juuzou is like... So adorable XD

Oh! And it's almost his birthday!! Happy Birthday! June 8th! I'll be celebrating by rewatching the anime. ^_^ So yeah.
