School let out for summer vacation tomorrow on the third of June. Final exams were tomorrow and Alice was stuck working overtime at the Springwood Diner. Starting her shift right after school from 2:30pm to 9:30pm, Alice had spent the first three hours serving nonstop food to various people. Mostly truckers passing through town. Taking a small break behind the counter and getting a sip of water in a small paper cup, Alice is startled by a male voice behind her, "Have you seen Rick around?". Turning around to face the man who was asking about her brother, Alice ends up choking on her water when she realizes she is face to face with Dan Jordan, "No" she says quickly while still choking. Dan chuckles with a grin, "Well you are his sister, right?" he asks. Alice manages to straighten out her coughing and gave Dan a warm friendly smile, "Rick had to stay a little bit after school, Kristen wasn't feeling too well" she said. Dan held his handsome smile continuing to melt Alice's heart, "Could you tell him I'm lookin' for him?" he asks politely. Alice nods her head to reassure Dan as he turns and heads for the exit doors, but he stops midway and spins back around, "Oh by the way, I'm Dan" he adds with another smile. This time, Dan turns back around and continues heading for the exit. Alice watches him leave as she is left in complete awe! Never had she seen a man so perfect on the outside...and it seemed he was pretty nice on the inside too. If Dan was the type of guy Alice thought he was, then any girls trying too hard to throw themselves at him didn't have a chance in hell! It seemed Dan Jordan was the type of guy who liked a classy girl with some brains and willing to keep up a half good conversation that involves maybe some common interests. From what Alice has heard from Rick, Dan's parents are strict and pushy and have formed Dan to be quite a young gentleman. Now, no one is saying the guy goes around acting too gentleman like and wears a full tuxedo and uses a fake rich accent all the time. Dan still managed to behave like a normal Springwood teen, but the respect for women and their image was important to Dan...maybe even his mother more so. He was popular, handsome, friendly, and the star of the Springwood High Varsity Football team. It seemed like the guy had all of it together! But Rick has informed Alice in the past that it isn't all what it's cracked up to be, he said that Dan sometimes has a hard time with the fact that his parents can get overly pushy and demanding of him. Alice usually felt bad for Dan when she heard these stories, "School is the only place he can take a breath of fresh air" Rick would say. Basically anytime he wasn't trapped at home with his parents was a good time. As for Alice, she daydreamed of all the ways she could rescue him from his pushy household and run away together! Dan would drive them in his red pickup and Alice would tell him where to travel to! She had always wanted to see Europe.
Again, Alice had found herself spending way too much time thinking of Dan when she was supposed to be serving customers at the diner. Her shift still wasn't over. Setting the paper cup down on the countertop beside the water machine, Alice grabbed her notepad and pen and headed over to a table where two mature men sat at wearing net hats. Flipping open her notepad, Alice gives the two customers a friendly and welcoming smile, "Hi! I'm Alice I'll be your waitress this evening, what can I get you guys?" she started asking in her friendly tone of voice. The two men placed their orders and Alice jotted it all down on her notepad to pass back to the cooks. Just as she confirmed their order and was about to return to the kitchen to deliver the order on the note, Rick and Kristen had entered. Quickly giving the cooks the piece of paper, Alice turned back around and faced Rick and Kristen, "Hey! Dan was here, he was just looking for you" she says. But Rick looked serious and not in the mood, when Alice looked over at Kristen, she noticed tears had been dried on her cheeks. Looking back at her brother, Rick, Alice loses her smile and becomes concerned, "What's going on?" she asks. Kristen steps up and says that her friends Joey and Kincaid have been in a brutal car accident and that their bodies were found earlier that morning. Alice instantly covered her mouth with her hands in shock as she felt knots form in the pit of her stomach, "Oh my God! What happened?" Alice asks shakily. Kristen wanted to respond but she started bawling her eyes out too much to say any actual words, "They went on a bit of a joy ride last night...Kincaid was hammered and they crashed into a telephone pole at 90 miles per hour" Rick whispers. Alice thought she was going to be sick, they were all good friends with Joey and Kincaid. How could they just be gone now? Deciding she would inform her boss about the situation, Alice call out the rest of her shift and left the diner with Rick and Kristen.
