Tomorrow arrives and classes pass slowly, the weather has gotten hotter and more miserable. But I did get to run for a bit with Iris again, he's helped me out a lot with training despite my lack of running ability. Seberina is also really kind and I've been with her for a while each day at lunch. We even studied together at the library for our tests, though the topics and difficulties were different.
"I don't mean to pry Nira-san, but you seem distracted lately from school. Is there something wrong?" Seberina asks.
"Yeah, there is Eiluned-kun. But I'm handling it, you don't need to worry" I tell her.
"Want to talk about it?" she asks.
"Thank you for your concern Seberina, you're a good friend. But this is something personal for me and I don't want to bother others with it" I answer.
"Alright then, I'm here if you need to talk. For now though I'm stuck on this one question, can you help?" she asks.
I smile and help her with some of her homework and preparation for the coming test. After that I went back home, I bought some teas on my way home thinking Tosha may want one. I get home and set one down on the desk in his room, then I go out to the couch while I enjoy mine. I start up a new show, a documentary I think about different wildcats. It's pretty interesting, watching them hunt and travel. I finish my drink sometime later and toss put the empty can into the trash.
The evening isn't really filled with a lot of activities. I mean, my parents did take us all to go bowling before dinner, which is fun as a family. The drive there was pretty awkward, the car was filled with silence. I'm sure Tosha tried not to glance over at me too much, if my parents caught him it wouldn't mean anything good. The pins on the alley crash down are are reset as my dad takes his last turn, he finishes with a strike and it puts him in a tie with me. Tosha selects his ball from the rack and takes his turn, he also lands a strike and spare on his last turn. He's a few points behind me, coming in 2nd.
"Good job Tosha" I say as he walks back over to us. "You almost passed me and my dad."
"A few pins away, I haven't bowled in forever so my first turn was terrible" he says with a laugh.
"It's good to see you kids had fun" my mom says.
She didn't join our games for the evening, she prefers to watch us have fun instead. The pins are reset and the TV screen above our lane is wiped blank as our two hours are up.
"Is anyone feeling up for dinner? Skye? Tosha?" my dad asks around.
"Um, yeah I could eat" I answer.
"I'm not too hungry currently, I can wait or join you" Tosha says.
"I'll drop you kids off at home and go out and get some pizzas, does that sound good?" he asks.
"Uh, yeah but are you and mom fine with eating that?" I ask. "Sorry, I mean you and mom like to eat other kinds of foods usually."
"We're fine sweetie" my mom tells me. "We're just enjoying something different this time."
After some agreement my dad takes us home, and I enter with Tosha. Then my parents drive off to get dinner. I sit on the couch a few feet away from Tosha as we watch some TV, the air feels kind of stale and weird as we sit in silence. I don't know what to talk about with him, maybe I can ask about his hobbies.
"Hey Skye, what do you do at school most of the time?" he asks before I can speak up.
"Well there's classes, then I have my club to go to" I tell him.
"That's pretty neat, which clubs are you in?" he asks.
"Only the literature club" I reply.
"What are your mornings like before classes?" he asks.
"Reading and writing then I talk with some friends" I tell him with a sigh. "Got any other questions?"
"No that's all Skye" he says and laughs slightly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make this seem like an interrogation. I'm just curious to know what you do."
"That's understandable. Now it's my turn to ask the questions, what hobbies do you have?" I ask.
"I'm into computers, video games, and reading. Well, writing too actually" he answers.
"Any outside activities?" I ask.
"I get some walks each week, but if you're asking if I do sports or anything then the answer is no" Tosha says.
"I don't mean to pressure you with this, but is there anyone you were interested in back home?" I ask, and my body subconsciously moves closer to him.
"There were a couple girls I noticed, but never talked with them enough to become friends. Why do you ask?" he replies.
"I was just curious is all" I say and lean in. "Just wondering if you were single or not."
I can see him leaning back as he feels uncomfortable, not because of my questions or my movement towards him, but because he's not sure if this is a good idea.
"Well I am, I have been my whole life but-" he starts to object, I cut him off with a quick kiss.
"Being single isn't bad, it just tells me that we can try something new" I say, kissing him again before scooting away.
Tosha doesn't say anything after that, I think I stunned him too much by that. Oh well, I know he liked it and so did I. I return my sight to the TV as our show continues, a glace towards Tosha tells me he's pretty thrilled by what I did. I smile and blush, keeping myself from looking at him. A half our later, I think it's close to 7pm, my parents get back home. The door opens and they come in, my dad brings the pizza boxes to the kitchen table as my mom shuts the door.
I stand up and head over to the table. The pizza does smell great, it's a shame we don't have it more often. But one can never just give up their liking of Japanese foods, no matter how good other foods may be. I set a few slices on my plate and sit back on the couch. And after a short time Tosha gets up to get some food. After an hour we're all done eating, and I take out the two empty boxes to be recycled.
"Goodnight mom and dad, I'm going to bed early tonight" I say as I pass the main room.
"Goodnight sweetie, sleep well" they reply.
I text Tosha a quick message when I enter my room. 'Want to spend some time together tonight? Don't make it too obvious, come in around 9:30pm.'
I lay on my bed, still awake as I look out my bedroom window. I soon hear Tosha say goodnight to my parents, and he comes down the hall. At the same time my parents happen to turn the volume up on the TV, the show they were watching was a bit quiet before I came to my room. Tosha opens the door quietly and comes in, shutting it behind him.
"About your text, you could have waited until later when they're asleep" he says.
"And if we wake them up and they come in here, and find you in my room? Then what?" I ask and pat the spot next to me.
We sit on my bed to talk some more, we get to know each other more deeply than before. And quickly our friendship grows. I think from my actions earlier this evening we do end up sharing one more kiss, it does feel more enjoyable compared to last time. After about an hour, or was it more? Time passed quickly as we made out that night, so it's hard to say what happened. But after we were done he left to go to his own room to sleep.
I guess meeting Tosha wasn't a bad thing, I never thought I'd meet him seeing as how our worlds are typically separated. He may have creeped me out at first, but now that I've met him and I like him now, he's someone who I'd want to stay with for a long time. I'm glad he's here, and I hope he stays. I can't wait to see what else we'll do together.
