Burning Pile- Mother Mother

"all my troubles on a burning pile"

_

I sigh as I pass the familiar "Welcome To Mystic Falls!" sign, nervously tapping my fingers against the steering wheel that I gripped so tightly. I turn up my music, smiling as 'Delicate' by Taylor Swift blared through my car speaker.

The song comes to and end as I pull up outside of my childhood home. I step out of my car, forcing myself to walk down the small path to the house, and knocking on the door. The small amount of time I waited for the door to open felt like hours. Eventually, the door was cracked open, the tired face of my father peeking around from behind the door as if it was a shield. His eyes landed on me and he swung the door open, a smile taking over his features as he embraced me in a hug.

"Evelyn! I didn't expect you so soon, I  would have cleaned up" He said as I pulled back from the hug, smiling at him.

"As if, you hate cleaning. I finished Cambridge early and was dying to come home. I love England, but it's not the same without you and mum" I said, earning a sad smile from my father at the mention of his late-wife.

"Come on in" he said, stepping aside, I followed him into the house, sitting down on the couch as he passed me a coke and sat beside me. We sat and talked for hours, catching up with each other about our lives.

I checked the time, standing up.

"I think I'm gonna head out for a while, I haven't seen my friends since I moved, is that alright?" I asked.

"Yes, yes, go on. They haven't stopped harassing me about you" He replied with a chuckle, ushering me out of the room. I smiled at him, hugging him once more before leaving the house as I slipped my phone into my back pocket.

I pulled up outside of the Salvatore's home, getting out of my car and walking down the driveway. Before I could knock on the door, it swung open in front of me, the familiar raven-haired vampire standing in the doorway.

"Evelyn? You're back?" He asked, a smile appearing on his face as I nodded with a grin.

"Maybe I just missed my favourite vampire a little too much." I said, earning a smirk from Damon as he hugged me, pulling me inside.

"Oy, don't kill me before I can see everyone else" I said, hitting his chest lightly as I pushed myself out of the hug, earning an eye roll from the vampire as he poured me a drink.

"Bourbon?" He asked, already pouring me a glass.

"Do you really have to ask?" I replied as I took the drink, taking a a sip.
