I Lied

I lied.
When I said I had my eye on someone new,
When I said I would lose what I felt for you,
When I pledged to stay by your side as your closest friend,
I lied.

I knew.
That I could never tear my heart away from you,
That I could never lose the love I expressed so few,
That I would get hurt at the process of us being friends.
I knew.

But I stayed.
I went through with it anyway.
Because one day, I had to learn to live through the pain.
I had to grow up.
I had to learn, and understand the pain.
So I stayed.

So, I lied.
I knew,
But in the end, I still stayed.

And I always will.
