The only way to be infected is a transmogrifying item, touching goo or crystal (Somewhat instant) and being scratched, being badly damaged by a gootraxian, and badly damaged and having goo in your blood course.
THere's different types of narration in this story as some parts could be in a radio chanel and some can be just a log or even 3rd person!
