Chapter 2

Trigger warning: alcohol and mentions of self harm

My name is Kyle Broflovski. I used to have a few friends named Kenny, Cartman and Stan. Me and Stan had always been extremely close. Closer than Kenny or cartman had been to us. One day he began drinking. At first it was no big deal and he would only do it once every few months. But eventually, it got much worse. It got so bad that I would have to text him every night to make sure he was ok. If he didn't respond, I would check on him. There were some close calls. Some times certain things got really bad. So bad to the point of me making the biggest mistake of my life.

There was this one day that he didn't respond to my message which happens often but something had happened the day before with him and his parents. I immediately ran to his house and banged on the door. No answer. I remembered that Stans mom always left the back window open to let some fresh air in and even though they weren't there I checked anyway. The window was open and I managed to squeeze through it. I walked through the house calling Stans name to see him passed out in the bathroom with a small blade in his hand. My heart sank as I stared at my best friend laying on the ground. I fell down on my kneese and broke down into large sobs. "S-stan!" I picked him up and squeezed him. "Stan please wake up!" I shook him but nothing happened. I carried him to his room and laid him down on his bed. I couldn't really do anything accept wait. I paced around the room waiting for him to wake up. I heard a small, weak noise coming from Stan's direction. I quickly turned around and ran towards him. "Stan! A-are you okay?" He looked up at me and smiled. He was still drunk. "Please don't ever do that again!" I cried. "I won't! I won't!" He replied. "Promise?" "Promise."

You shouldn't make a promise if you don't mean it. I should've known.
