Evie sat at the first computer she saw. Even though it was at least over 20 years old, it worked surprisingly well. The keys clacked loudly in the silence. As far as she could tell, she was the only one in the library. She immediately searched for anything related to the house.

About an hour passed, and all that she could find were some mentions of the house in the January 1979 paper. The article only mentioned that the house was used as the school's science wing. After that, the article explained that it would be renovated and made into a dorm house.

Evie sighed and slouched in her chair.

What was she expecting to find?

She got up and went to the front desk.

Ms. Porter, the school librarian, was not stereotypical in many ways. First, she looked like she was in her mid 20's and wore clothes from this century. Second, from what she had seen so far, she wasn't at all grumpy. When she came in during orientation, she made cookies and served them like a cheerleader. Ms. Porter caught sight of Evie.

"Evie! What can I do for you?" She asked.

"Hi, Ms. Porter. I was wondering if you knew anything about Carter House. Any news about it in the last few years. I can't find anything." Evie, leaned against the desk. "Anything about what the house use to be?" She whispered.

Confused, Ms. Porter, went to her computer. She typed something, then got up.

"I think I have some old books and blueprints from before the remodel. Can I ask why you wanted to see them?"

"Yeah, I have a history project for Mr. Specter's class. We are in our Cold War unit."

Ms. Porter walked around the desk.

"Okay, I was just curious. Follow me."

Ms. Porter led Evie to a large record room. The room was packed to the brim with files and papers.

This place seriously needs an upgrade.

While they walked through the the room, Ms. Porter was counting file cabinets. When she reached the one she was looking for, and opened it. Evie looked inside. It was empty.

"Sorry, but where are the files?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I totally forgot. Peter must've already taken the files out." She shut the cabinet. "Follow me."

They walked back towards the door.

"The school wanted to put all of the documents on computers and we just started. Peter has been busting his ass trying to get the first documents into the new program."

They walked out of the room and to a small office down the hall.

When they walked into the office, they heard a loud bash.

"Sorry!" A voice shouted. Ms. Porter walked into the room.

"I hope you aren't breaking school property, Mr. Ross."

A boy with blonde hair looked up at her with a sarcastic grin.

"Oh, Mr. Ross! That's a first. Who's the cutie?

Ms. Porter rolled her eyes.

"Evie, this is Peter. Peter, Evie."

"Hi." Evie greeted awkwardly.

Peter chuckled, "Hi. No need to be shy. I don't bite."

Ms. Porter suppressed a laugh.

Peter's face turned slightly pink.

"Shut up, Donna."

Ms. Porter cackled. Evie must have looked surprised, because Ms. Porter spoke.

"It's alright, I've known this brat since he was ten. I've told him much worse."

Peter nodded, "It's true, one time she called me a -"

"Okay, Peter, we aren't here on a social call. We need the documents from cabinet 7D."

Peter laughed, "Okay, okay, which ones? The blueprints or the files?"

"Both, if that's possible." Evie said quietly.

"Okay, just let me get them together."

Donna sighed, "Well as fun as this is, I need to head back," She looked at Evie.

"Are you alright by yourself?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine" Evie smiled. She wasn't worried or anything, she just felt awkward around people she just met.

Donna nodded and left the room.

While Evie waited, she looked around the room and spotted box of posters. They were movie posters. The Breakfast Club, Star Wars, The Avengers. There was also a box of comics, a baseball in a glass box, and another box full of records.

"Alright, here is everything that was in that cabinet," Peter put a box of files on the desk. "I'm in the middle of putting the blueprints into the program, but, if you want, you can come by tomorrow and get them."

Evie turned to him and smiled. "Okay, sounds good."

She turned to the desk. She saw a few pens and a couple of drawing pencils. Under the keyboard, she saw an orientation packet. Next to that, was a class schedule with Mr. Allen's Government class highlighted.

She walked to the desk, "So, you like movies, huh?"

Peter looked at the posters and smiled.

"Yeah, I like the stories. Those in particular."

"Me too. My favorite has to be The Avengers." She said as she picked up the box.

"Yeah, that one is pretty great. Hey, were you working on the computer in the library this morning?" He asked with a smug smile. Evie looked at him confused, then realized.

"You were the kid behind the bookcase, weren't you?"

Peter tried not to laugh. "Yeah, who knew the morning bell could be so scary!" He teased.

Evie laughed. "Well, I was concentrating! I didn't know a sophomore could act like he was five."

Peter looked up surprised.

"How did you know I was a sophomore?"

Evie smiled and pointed to the desk, "Your schedule on your desk has government highlighted. Only sophomores and up can take government, and you're new to this school because you have an orientation packet. No sophomores who have been here since freshman year bother going to orientation."

Peter looked confused. He looked at the desk, then at Evie.

"Who are you, female Sherlock Holmes?"

"No," she picked up the box. "I just know where to look."

Peter looked dumbfounded. Impressed was the first word that came to mind. "Well, I guess cute doesn't even begin to describe you."

Evie grinned, then left the room with the files.
