Summary: Elle and Readers relationship was just starting, when Readers luck ran out.
English isn't my first language, there will probably be some mistakes. Also, I kinda rushed this, so if it's bad..i'm not surprised.
Pairing: Elle Greenaway X Bau Fem!Reader.
Genre: Angst (and of course a little bit fluff).
Category: Oneshot.
Warnings: I normally don't write angst for my own sake, but I had this idea that just so happened to be angsty, so one of the warnings is angst. Violence, typical Criminal Minds stuff, death and I don't know if there's more but if so do tell me! (:
————————————————————————

There has been many times where you had been scared for your life. At any moment, if you said or did the wrong thing, it could all be over so quickly. One push, pull or whatever was the weapon used against you, could end your life. And at first you were a bit naive, thinking you could manage to never run into a life threating situation even though your job was so risky. But of course, you quickly learned that you never knew what to expect, and to be prepared for anything. Mostly, it came as a realization when you took matters into your own hands during a case, before back-up arrived. Of course, you don't regret a single thing. You managed to save a life, even though you had almost just been robbed of your own. A gun pointed in your direction ready to fire, at any moment. You managed to stall and calm him down, but when back-up arrived they took their shot at him, for your safety, 'cause this unsub was irrational, and implusive. You didn't stand much a chance either way. What awaited you after was a worried and uneasy Elle Greenaway. She had scolded you for your dumb decision, while her eyes were full of tears falling, with an unsteady voice, ready to fall apart into sobs. She had been outside of the building hurrying Hotch to make a decision quick, while she kept biting the inside of her cheeks. She herself had been just as scared as you had been, waiting in anticapation for whatever was to come. She had shoved you, but right when she did that, she pulled you in for a warm, close and long hug. She let herself rest her head against yours, calming down in your embrace. After that, Elle couldn't hide her love and strong feelings anymore, giving into what she wanted with you. And it all went so well. Months of having these strong feelings for your colleague was something you tried to hide, but when Elle broke down in your embrace you just had to confess to her too. She never broke down infront of any of you, and for her to just let herself go like she did, was not only a surprise but a heartwarming experience.

So you and Elle dated. Your relationship grew as months of dating and hanging out passed. And at some point you both decided you were in a romantic relationship, finally being able to call Elle your girlfriend. And something you learned about Elle from almost the very start, was she was not scared to put up a fight, if she had to. She would protect and fight. So whenever you were in the field, she always kept you close, and watched out for you. But she couldn't always be there for you, and Elle had a hard time accepting that. Of course, you wanted to protect her too, so it was pretty much a relationship of looking out for each other. But things could get wild at times, that it could really make your heartbeat go so fast it felt like it was going to break through your ribs, muscles and skin.

And normally you never expect the things happening to yourself. It's always some tragedy you hear about in the news. But reality is, it could happen to you, and you pretty much had noticed that when you had been in such a life threating situation.

"Y/N?" Elle said confused, when she didn't see you right by her side, when she turned around, still holding her gun securely. The area was crowded, and everyone on the team including the local police station were running around these streets trying to catch up with the unsub. Chasing an unsub in these big cities could get stressful, as people were in the way, clueless to how much of an importance your situation was.
She fixed her posture, and started searching the area, in hopes of spotting your familiar figure or face. Her hands started to loose the strong grip on her gun, her hands becoming sweaty. She started to walk around, panic running through her body, all kinds of thoughts about where you could possibly be running in circles in her mind. She didn't let herself get too emotional, because she knew these things happen, and she didn't want to make a big fuzz out of not being able to see you right away, but that didn't stop concern from filling her.
