Today was the day of Charles and Madeline's engagement party, instead it wasn't a real engagement party is was a set up by her parents of their arranged marriage.
Madeline was currently getting her hair and make up done by her professional stylists and was then getting herself dressed into a white dress which had been around for generations and which her mother wore for her engagement party too.
Once Madeline was ready she stepped outside of her door to see Charles here already waiting. "What are you doing outside my door?" Madeline questioned him. Charles didn't want to admit that he was really standing to see her and how beautiful she looked instead he lied. "Waiting for my not so good looking fiancé" he said smirking before she tried to walk away. She was fed up of these snarky comments. "No Mads I didn't mean that I swear." Charles said quickly realising his actions were wrong before grabbing her wrist and making her face him. She thought to herself, he called her Mads he only did that when they were younger if he knew he did something wrong, it was a way of him showing he was genuinely sorry, but Madeline wasn't going to allow him to get his way when he wanted. You didn't mean that?" She responded. "If you didn't mean it you wouldn't have said it." She continued, forcing herself out of his grip and heading to the bathroom where she shamed the door.
"Fuck." He whispered to himself.
Since that moment, the engagement party had gone better as Madeline was talking to a few guests occasionally having small moments with Charles to please the public until it was time for some cake.
The 'happy couple'' grabbed a knife and cut the cake together hand in hand before force feeding each other a piece and Charles leaning in to kiss her just to make everyone happy. Once they'd finished Madeline managed to sneak away with a bottle of wine to get away from everyone. She needed space.
She say herself down on the edge of the infinity pool taking her heels off and dipping her feet into the water, the refreshing feeling calmed her on the inside.
She'd been feeling really hurt lately and upset with Charles but mostly with her parents, why were they so controlling over her? Why not as controlling with her sisters? She had so many questions but her mind was elsewhere.
Her eyes were covered with tears as glass by glass she finished her bottle of wine trying to drink away her thoughts and worries.
She heard someone walking up to her but didn't bother to look who it was but then she felt them sit beside her. She looked to her right to see Charles sitting with his feet in the water next to her.
"Why are you here." She asked him. "You left so I came to find you, I thought you ran away." He responded calmly this time. "Me runaway? I don't think I could ever escape my parents." She responded. Charles nodded as they proceeded to sit in silence for a while. "Mads I truely didn't mean what I said this morning." Charles said. "Even though I've hated you my whole life you looked beautiful today I wanted to say it but I was too much of a dick to even get that out of my mouth." Charles continued. "I knew you didn't mean it." Madeline responded. "You knew?" Charles questioned her. She nodded. "when you were younger as you only called me Mads when you were genuinely sorry." She responded. Charles smiled. "That's true." He responded looking back onto the water.
"And thank you." She continued. Charles raised an eyebrow looking to her. "For telling me I look beautiful." She continued looking into the view ahead of her.
"Your welcome." He responded. "How about a late night swim?" Charles continued. "What no!" Madeline responded kneeing she couldn't swim but Charles still pushed her in.
Her face rose above the water glaring at Charles. "I hate you." She said. "I hate you too." He responded before jumping in with her. "What are you doing?" He said to Madeline as she removed her dress. "Swimming she responded as she revealed her Lacey white underwear and started swimming. Charles's eyes where on her, he couldn't believe what she was doing or what he was seeing.
"What can you not handle the view?" She said in a sarcastic manner. "Your lost for words aren't you." Madeline continued before getting out. She saw Charles's phone on the side with texts from a girl named Charlotte. "I see you have a girlfriend Charles." He nodded before Madeline walked away fuming.
He was dating someone and in an arranged marriage at the same time?
She couldn't believe this.
