It was a bright early morning in May. The sun was rising over Madeline's windows in the royal palace.
Due to this arranged marriage, she would be traveling a lot more often to attend Charles's races, as if she didn't, people would start to suspect if they were even a couple after all.
Madeline woke up at 6 am and got herself ready for the journey to Spain. Even thought she wanted to be comfortable, she couldn't as she had too look presentable for her country.
This morning she did her own hair and make up before choosing a matching blazer and shorts with a black tank top underneath. She matched it with a pair of black heels from channel.
Once she was ready, she headed downstairs to see her family waiting to say goodbye before she got in the car. "Be good please Madeline." Her mother said. "Of course I will mother." She responds giving her a hug. "Where is Charles meeting you?" Her father asked. "At the airport." Madeline responded with a soft smile before saying her final goodbyes and getting into the car.
She arrived at the airport followed by her 2 bodyguards who were employed by her father. They assisted her in carrying her luggage to the front desk where she saw Charles standing waiting for her. He was dressed in a grey tracksuit with his glasses on a ruffled hair.
He looked up to see her walk closer to him as his eyes couldn't come off of her, but he quickly snapped out of it. "Madeline what are you wearing?" Charles questions her. "Well unlike you Charles I actually have to look a certain way where ever I go." She responded. "No you don't." He says after checking in their babes and heading into the airport shops. "What are you doing?" Madeline asks feeling his grip on her arm. "Getting you something comfy for the flight." He said. "This is comfy what are you on about-" she was cut off by Charles. "So you saying you'll be comfortable enough to sleep in that?" he contiued. Madeline stayed quiet receiving a smirk from Charles as they walked into the shop.
Charles walked over to the tracksuit area and picked out a cream coloured tracksuit. "Here go try it on." Charles said pulling out his wallet out of his pocket. "Charles please I'll pay for it." Madeline said. "Be quiet and get changed." Charles commanded as he payed, somehow, he got her to obey.
Madeline changed into her tracksuit and walked out seeing Charles waiting there for her.
"How do I look?" Madeline asked. "You look good come on let's go." Charles quickly said grabbing hold of her hand as they walked through the airport with pictures being taken everywhere.
"Who else is on the flight?" Madeline asked. "Me, you, my mum and my brother Arthur." Charles said as Madeline received a phone call. "Yes dad." She picked up the phone. "What are you wearing?" her father asked on the other line. "Comfy clothes—" "you can't be seen looking like that your a princess! " her father cut her off. Before Madeline could say anything Charles took the phone off of her. "Hello sir, first of all it was my idea and second of all you would like her to be happy right? So let her wear the damn clothes. I payed for them so don't worry about expenses, oh and also please tell her big bodyguards dressed in black to leave, she doesn't need protection anymore, she's with me." Charles said before hanging up the phone handing it back to her.
There was silence between them as they got on the plane until right before. "My mum knows this so fake." Charles said before letting go of her hand.
Even though Charles's mother knew, Pascale always liked Madeline as Charles and her would go to the same school, she was always very sweet. "Hello darling how are you?" Pascale asked. "I'm okay thank you how are you?" Madeline responded with a soft smile receiving a hug from Pascale. "I'm good thank you! Oh look at you! So gorgeous!" She continued. "Oh thank you so much." Madeline responded as the two talked for a while on the flight having some time to catch up.
Madeline decided to sit on her own for the flight and do some reading. It's what calmed her made her feel at peace with everything. "Hey." Arthur said approaching Madeline. "Hey."" She responded. "Mind if I sit?" Arthur asked politely. Madeline nodded putting down her book on the table. "Are you okay about this whole marriage?" He asked her. "Well it's not about if I'm okay is it?" Madeline said smiling softly to hide her true feelings. "What hurts the most is no one told me, I just had to go along with it and do what everyone else says." Madeline continued. "I get it." Arthur responded. "To be honest sometimes I wish I wasn't a royal." Madeline says. "Really?"Arthur says. "yeah although I enjoy it and feel very grateful for what everyone does for me I just want to be normal, with a normal family, a husband and three kids, nothing more." Madeline continues, as she was saying this Charles was listening into the conversation feeling sorry for Madeline but he didn't do anything about it.
Soon after, Madeline fell asleep with her head leaning onto the window most likely to get a neck ache the next day. Once they landed she was still asleep on the same position. As Charles was getting up from his seat he noticed her, she look beautiful, even though she was sleeping, he didn't want to wake her nor disturb her so he tried his best to carry her off the plane into a taxi towards the hotel.
He couldn't take his eyes off her, and he didn't know why.
