Follow Me Chapter 1

It was bright Friday morning, Helen was getting ready for school, putting on her black shirt and black jeans, she picked up her books that were laying on the ground and placing them inside her bag, her her black curly hair falling into her face as she picked up her phone from the table next to her bed. Looking at the time she had 15 more minutes until the buss arrived at the buss stop near to her house, she was a new student at Greenville High, a feeling of uncofort grew in her stomach as she was about to go into a new environment, but at least her friends were already there.

Since she had 15 more minutes she decided to sit on her bed and read some horror stories, she's a big fan of horror anything that has to do with scary movies, urban legends and true crime as well, the feeling of horror and excitement mixed together as she read about those stories made her love it. Although her favorite urban legend was of the mythical Slenderman, she was very intrigued about this tall humanoid figure that kidnapped people and lurked into the woods, in fact she wanted to ask her best friend Joan to get their cameras and go search for him in a nearby forest just a mile away from their town.

Although she already knew that Joan was scared of that type of stuff, she still wanted to feel the thrill on going into the woods at night, while hunting down a creature made from nightmares. She knew Joan wouldn't agree but she'd still ask her about it.

As she was scrolling through an online forum that was all about people sharing creepy stories and links to creepy videos someone had messaged her a link, the link was titled "Follow Me". The person that messaged he had no profile picture nor a username. "That has to be a spam account" She said, but out of curiosity she foolishly clicked on the link without even thinking it might be a virus. As she clicked on the link it took her to a website, it was just a blank screen, she refreshed the page and a video showed up.

In the video there was a guy with a yellow hood, blue jeans and a ski mask that had two red eyes and a frown drawn onto it. Creeped out she clicked on the video but nothing was happening, the guy was out in the woods, it was night and crickets could be heard from the video, he was just staring at the screen doing nothing and before the video ended it started glitching and a loud static sound started to blast threw her headphones.

She emidiately took her headphones off and the video ended kicking her out of the website and going back to her messages again. Strangely enough the person that messaged her deleted his message. Helen was so confused, she tried to find his message by scrolling though the messages but it was gone. She still had 10 minutes until her buss arrived so she returned to the forum although she was still pretty confused she decided to ignore it and read a few scary stories before leaving for the buss stop.

During lunch break she went to sit with her friend group. In the friend group was Joan, Lydia, Mary, Eleftherria and Josh. Joan's a very kind girl and really pretty as well, with black long hair and deep brown eyes, she's obsessed with colognes and her clothes smell like strawberry all the time. She was wearing a grey shirt with black jeans and black shoes, although her confidence wasn't in a great place at the time, but a lot of guys liked her, even though she whould constantly think otherwise, then there's Lydia and Mary, they are inseparable, they are best friends, Mary is also cousins with Helen, so is Joan but she is a distant cousin.

Lydia is a brunette with a pink ombre and eyes like the color of the sea, always has that minty fresh smell, she is wearing a pastel pink T-shirt with blue jeans and pink and white shoes, always on top of her classes and so was Mary, she's is a slightly brighter brunette, with bright brown eyes like the color of honey. Mary was wearing a beige high neck shirt, blue jeans and white shoes, she's a more introverted type of girl, meanwhile Lydia is more extroverted.

Next to Mary sits Eleftherria, she is more of the nerdy type, but not the school type of nerd but the "I will collect anything that has to do with the books, series or movies that I like" type of nerd, she has red dyed hair with a blonde ombre and emerald green eyes, from a mile away you knew she'd smell something like red wine, which in fact she really did since she was crazy about it, she also wears a V-shaped red shirt, with black leggings and red shoes. Although she also is rather introverted, she and Josh seem to have a thing for each other, the way the talk and look at each other makes them look like they're a couple.

Then at last is Josh, he's a rather tall guy, very masculine with blonde hair with red highlights and brown eyes, he usually smells like cigarettes and cheap perfume, he wears a grey T-shirt and black jeans, with black leather boots. As intimate Josh might look, he's usually very polite and a really nice guy.

As everyone was talking Helen remembered that she wanted to explore the forest next to the town, she turns Joan in excitement and asked her "Hey this is kinda, unrelated but there's a forest about a mile away from here, I was thinking that we should definitely go and explore it." Said Helen in an exciting manner "Who knows maybe we'll find Slenderman!" she said while giggled sarcastically. "No way I'm going there, I've heard a lot of weird things happened to that place and there's no way I'm searching for a faceless man with tentacles, so no thank you but I'll pass." Joan said in an agitated tone. "Let alone the fact that his legend started our area because of all those missing people and kids." She stated as her face started to seem genuinely scared.

"Wait you guys are talking about the Slenderman legend?" Mary commented, "Yeah, I'm really intrigued onto going in the forest and exploring it. I mean I know he's not real but it whould be cool to go there and record a creepy video to post on the forum I read scary stories from." Helen stated as she was taking a bite out of her lunch. "So you think he's not real?" Mary questioned, "No, I mean he's just an urban legend.. right?" Helen stated. "He's not just an urban legend, he's real. I haven't really seen him cause if I did, I wouldn't be here talking to you guys, but my dad had this friend that disappeared a while ago. His name was Jay Merrick, he was doing this project with some of his friends, Tim Wright, Alex Kralie, Brian Tomas and others." Mary pointed out as her face started to seem more serious, "The first person to disappear was Brian, Jay uploaded the video footage on his YouTube channel, it's called "Marble Hornets" and he captured Slenderman, Tim was the last person out of everyone to go missing.

Although no one ever heard from anyone again the only people who were spotted though out the time that the series Marble Hornets ended was as it was claimed Brian and Tim, the first and last person to go missing." Mary explained in detail the Marble Hornets video footage as everyone was sitting and carefully listening. "People claim that Tim was wearing blue jeans a black and red striped shirt with a beige like jacket and a white mask." Freaking everyone out Mary continues, "and Brian was wearing blue jeans, a yellow hood and a black ski mask with red eyes and a frown drawn onto it." As Mary kept talking Helen froze in disbelief, "I- I've seen him before.." Mary stopped and everyone turned to her. "What?" Joan asked in shock.

"I saw him on a video, he was just staring at the camera doing nothing and it just glitched seconds before the video finished." Everyone at the lunch table was looking at you like you were an alien. "When, where and how did you see this video?" Mary asked unnerved, "This morning before I went to the buss station, on my phone. I was in my room going through the "Scary And Horror Stuff" forum, I was scrolling searching for horror stories to read until the buss arrived and someone with no profile picture or username dm me and send me a link. that's were I saw the video." Everyone seemed concerned but then Josh spoke, "What if it was just a prank, I mean all this- can't be real.." Helen turned to Mary in a confused look, "So what do you think about it? "I genuinely don't know." Said Mary, "but it's better to not open any strange links again."

The whole thing with the video wasn't even scary, the only eerie thing was the fact that everyone got spooked from what Mary said.

After school Helen and Mary were waiting for the buss, forgetting all about the video and all that Slenderman stuff. It's been a couple of hours that Helen had a slight headache but then at the buss stop it got slightly worse, Mary noticed a discomfort in Helen's face, "Are you okay?" Mary questioned Helen, "Yeah, just a- just a headache." As the arrived Helen sat next to Helen before Helen got out of the buss Mary turned to her and said "Helen-" "Yeah?" Helen asked as she turned around, "Just stay out of the woods, whould you?" Helen nodded and walked away.
