I wish I didn't fall near the shoe rack.
Seunghwan waited outside my economics class, just like the other football players, he had his new monochrome Osan FC jacket on, pride and cockiness overflowing from the kid as he winked at every girl he saw. Seunghwan was known to be a massive flirt, then again, everyone except Taerae was a flirt, and the number of girls and boys chasing after them was enormous. I understand how people fall for my brother's angelic smile, but I really don't get how people fall for a personality like Lee Seunghwan.
"Can you not?" I grumbled when I caught him, the boy flinching when he heard my voice.
"What are you talking about?" Seunghwan grinned, slinging his heavy arm around my shoulder, "I just do what I got to do"
"Flirting with my classmates is not something you should be doing"
"How else am I supposed to get inside information?"
"That's..."
"So cool?" He asked with gleaming eyes that made me grimace.
"No, that's just straight-up creepy"
The summer wind brushed past us when we stepped out of building B, where all the mainstream labs were. Our school prioritised extracurricular activities on par with studies, I can remember how our principal always mentioned having a levelled head to reach our dreams. Which I'd say was pretty accurate.
The archery kids brushed past us back to the gyms because of the windy weather, the trees dancing with the dry wind as if they would break their backs anytime sooner. I was pretty sure all of the school was outside, seeing how busy the courtyard was, students bustling around the fountains to get some breeze.
Yejin and her friends occupied the taps, shooting water at each other with the horse pumps, the taller boys all drenched because of the small girl who kept running around. Gyuvin, despite being wet from head to toe, sat on the pavement with a snack bar peacefully as if the war in front of him was nothing.
His gaze met mine and I could see how they lit up, his long arm shooting up to say hi but it didn't end up well. Junhyeon, that one loud kid from Class 4 tripped onto the seated boy, taking both of them down to the flower bed. I couldn't help but chuckle at the lot being a bunch of idiots, at least they found a way to enjoy it.
Summer in Osan was horrible, it was either extremely windy or extremely dry— or both at the same time, which is happening right now. Unlike the big cities where they actually had normal weather conditions, we had to deal with Mother Nature being on her constant periods, Niagara Falls was better than any of this.
"Taerae, Taerae—Kim Taerae!" Seunghwan's voice echoed down the empty chairs as I locked the doors behind me. Hall two was a special place for many of us, The only place that allowed air conditioning the only place where the band could practice in peace without the orchestra kids and Jazz butting in here as if they owned the entire school. The orchestra members are really that annoying, They treat everyone except for Taerae as if the band members were a plague to music.
My twin glowed under the spotlight, his adorable grin shined brighter than the light itself, melting our hearts away. Taerae had also joined the cult of FC, his small figure covered by an enormous jacket that didn't suit the image he carried, the root guitar we got him for his birthday last year laid behind his back. He was more of a sweater guy than a varsity jacket person, it brought his personality out.
"How the fuck does he smile like that?" I asked myself as I followed Seunghwan down the stairs.
"Don't ask me. You're his twin"
"Oh, You guys made it," Taerae hopped off the stage without caring about how tall the stage actually was. Seunghwan caught the boy in time but failed to protect me when he threw his bag straight to my face, the weight of his laptop taking me back to 2016 when DK did that heavenly high note. Basically, life flashed in front of my eyes.
