Chapter 4: Alexander's POV

Chemistry was so fun. During the whole class, I annoyed Adeline. I did admit to a crime to her but whatever. Honestly, her dad has busted me for way worse. I gotta get money for the family someway. Lunch finally rolls around. Jack and I sit at a high table. I look over to Adeline's self designated table to see her laughing with her friends.

"Dude! Hello?!" Jack waves his hand over my eyes.

"What?" I look at him confused.

"Why are you staring at Adeline?" He asks.

"I wasn't!" I say.

"Yes, you were! Do you have a crush on her?" He stares at me in horror.

"No! Bro, seriously! Why would I have a crush on her?!" I stare back at him.

"Good. She's way out of your league. And her father hates your guts." He stated.

"I know. I may or may not have admitted that I street race to her." I say taking a bite of my lunch.

"Why?!" He says taking a sip of his water.

"Come on, you should've seen her face! It was hilarious. Plus, what are they gonna do? They haven't caught me so they have nothing!" I smiled.

"You're going to get caught if you keep doing that." He laughs.

"Eh. Who cares at this point." I reply.

Two months later it's finally time to go home for Thanksgiving week. After an hour's drive Peyton and I finally get home. My mom rushes to greet us.

"I missed y'all so much!" My mom says.

"I missed you too, Ma!" I say hugging her. As Peyton hugs Mom, I see my dad passed out on the couch. I sigh as I go to my room.

The next day I call Jake and ask if he wants to go hunting. He accepts and later he finally arrives at my house. We grab my guns and we walk out into the woods behind my house. We walk around the woods when I hear a scream. I turn to look at Jack who looks scared. We walk further and see a dark cabin.

"No way in hell am I going in there." Jack says as I walk towards the structure.

"Come on Jack, stop being a baby. We have to help whoever is in there!" I reply.

"Well, I kinda don't want to die so you have fun." And with that Jack runs away like the stupid little baby that he is. I creep up to the window and peek in. Inside is a tall, buff man with a gun and a little girl tied to a chair. The girl looks familiar. I can't quite place where I know her from. Wait. She kinda looks like - Adeline? But younger, without freckles and darker hair. Then I remember how her little sister went missing. I remember feeling so bad for her... Her sister was the same age Peyton was... I couldn't imagine if I lost her. I have to save her. I see a back door to the cabin. I grab a thick rock and throw it in the opposite direction of the back door. The guy rushes out towards the sound. I open the back door and the little girl looks at me, her blue eyes wide with fear, with a gag in her mouth. I untie her and take the towel out of her mouth. I carry her out to my motorcycle. I give her my helmet and tell her to hold on. I drive up to the Callahan house gate.

"You're not welcome here." A male voice booms from the speaker next to the camera.

"I have someone for you." I say as I take the helmet off of the child. The gates immediately open and I drive up their driveway, slowly to make sure she doesn't fall off. Mr. and Mrs. Callahan, and Adeline rush out. Adeline's wearing a white crop top, blue ripped jeans and it looks really good on her–No! Shut up!

"Aster!" Adeline runs up to my motorcycle grabbing her little sister into a hug.

"Addie." The little girl cries. Adeline takes her into the house with her mother.
