Music carried through the hall, vibrating the floorboard and creating an uplifting atmosphere. The orchestra on the balcony played in such harmony that they could do it whilst sleeping. Vibrations were felt from the tsunami of people dancing in the centre of the room, stamping their feet as they moved.Charlotte, Elizabeth and Mary were on the outside of the dance floor seated upon the wooden benches watching as Lydia and Kitty danced their way around the room finding a suitable partner for the night in hopes of getting some form of male attention. Their young souls are consumed by the desire to be in love and loved, not yet exposed to the trouble they could get themselves in with the wrong suitor.
Mr and Mrs Bennet stood on the opposite end of the sea of people, accompanied by the quietist Bennet, Mary. Who dare it be said, would rather be at home watching the fire burn than having to be out in society. Nevertheless, she felt somewhat more content with Lilibet who was standing beside her, clapping along with the music played by the orchestra with a gleaming smile that seemed to make her shine. Lilibet loved attending balls, she loved the music and the atmosphere but most importantly she enjoyed watching and observing everyone else's happiness at the event as you could get a lot of insight just by watching people and how they interact with each other.

"How are you feeling Mary" I asked loudly to my sister who looked very uncomfortable to be here. I leaned in close to be able to hear her response as Mary is quite soft-spoken.
"I'm okay, I'll be in a better mood when we can return home and be able to slumber in complete silence" Her lips pulled into a straight line as I nodded understandingly. I giggled " You, Lady. Are not leaving here without having at least one dance with me or maybe we dare find you a fine lady or gentlemen to dance with instead"
She blushed almost instantly and swatted her hands at me frantically."NO! No! No..I'll dance with you. Just one song though and none after that" I laughed wholeheartedly at her reaction and pulled her into a bone-crushing hug swaying side to side "Ohhh dear sister how I do love to tease you! After this song is over we shall be merry and dance to the next one, then I shall pester you no more regarding a dance for the remainder of the evening" I hummed grinning from ear to ear.
Once Mary and I had broken apart, the music seemed to have slowed to a stop as 3 figures stood at the entrance of the hall. Letting my inquisitiveness get the better of me, whilst the people in the centre of the room became stationary, I weaved through the crowd over to Mary, Elizabeth and Charlotte to see if they had an idea who these people were, however, I had quite a distinctive guess as to who at least 1 of the people may be since that was one of the reasons why we attended the ball in the first pace.
Mama would do anything in her power to get us married off, within reason of course. And that reason seemed to be for either wealth or status, even sometimes both. I have nothing against my Mother, I love her dearly as she has cared for and provided for us as a good Mother should. However her morals sometimes can be a little say.. harsh.
