Yukio pulled out his gun, pointing it at the figure as Rin whispered under his breath. "Stop right there! Stop! One more step, and I'll shoot."
The figure ignored Yukio, dropping the left eye and disappearing. Rin rushed forward the second he could, kneeling before the boy. "This is bad."
"This is a fake." Yukio picked up the eye, squeezing it in his fingers. Yukio was cut off as he was kicked to the side. "Mr. Todo?!"
"Ah well, now my secret's out. At least I can still buy some time."
"Fucking knew it." Rin grinned as the sword sliced by Todo's head. Shura landed to the side, the hazmat over her body.
Todo blinked, looking between them. "You did? How?"
"You weren't affected. I like research, and I know the symptoms of the left and right eye. Your symptoms weren't consistent. Plus, you reek of the stench of that place."
Shura rolled her eyes. "Stop bragging and get that boy out of here."
Rin easily picked the boy up, running away.
"I'm afraid I can't allow that." The dark smoke surrounded Rin as he cursed. "Loafs!" The oyster appeared before Rin, the barrier appearing around them.
"Rin!" Yukio watched as the darkness consumed Rin, his attention-getting dragged away from Todo.
"Pay attention, boy!" Todo kicked Yukio down. "You're a lot like I used to be. My family planned out my future the day I was born, and I never voiced my doubts. Like a dog, I simply obeyed the organisation and my family. I wanted to be like my father and older brother, but what did that get me? Nothing, that's what. So I decided to recognise my true feelings. I came to hate my family, this organisation and the whole world! And then, I saw the light. Finally, I felt complete."
"Will you shut up?!" Shura sliced down as Todo caught her blade, throwing her to the side.
"You're just weak. You let a demon seduce you." Yukio pushed himself up as Todo tilted his head.
"Every heart has its weakness. Is that what you are afraid of? Well, it's about that time. Time to clear out."
"What're you..."
I'm glad I had this chance to talk with you two. You may not understand now, but in time you will from head to toe. And when that happens, I'll be there to welcome you, Yukio Okumura."
"Wait!"
He was gone. Yukio panted as he stared at where Todo had slid into the darkness.
"Shura! This kid isn't going to make it outside." Rin stood with the child, watching the infection grow around him.
Shura rushed over, watching the oyster barrier drop. "There's no time. We'll treat him right here." Shura turned to Yukio, seeing how he hadn't moved. She cursed, stealing the pack from him and laying them out in front of Rin.
"Tell me what to do?"
"You're not trained?"
"I've probably studied more medicine than you and Yukio combined. Now let me help and tell me what to do. My medical training doesn't yet include demon stuff."
Shura frowned, nodding as she took out a vial. "We need to pour the antidote into every infection ball."
"You mean the furuncles?"
Shura rolled her eyes. "Don't get smart on me."
Together, they stabbed each one, letting the antidote flood into the boils. One by one, they went down. The boy breathed easier.
