chapter two

When you arrive at Mitsuri's front door, you knock and wait for someone to answer it in an awkward silence beside Sanemi. But somehow, the awkwardness only gets worse when Genya opens the door. Sanemi is less than thrilled. He simply grumbles and pushes past him, while Genya mutters, "Welcome in, I guess."

Smirking, you remark, "Seems like he has a problem with knocking."

Genya shrugs, a hint of annoyance in his tone. "He has a problem with lots of things apparently."

You pat Genya on the shoulder reassuringly and make your way into the house. He shuts the door behind you, and you take a deep breath, preparing yourself for the night ahead.

Just as you step further into the room, Mitsuri approaches you with a wide smile. "Y/N! I'm so glad you made it!" she exclaims, linking her arm with yours and guiding you through the crowd.

She parades you around to see the others, including Giyu, Shinobu, and Rengoku, who all greet you warmly. Rengoku can't help but bring up your earlier encounter with Ubuyashiki, asking with a hearty laugh, "So, how did your lecture with Master go? I bet it was super important, right?! We still have so much to learn from him!"

You roll your eyes playfully. "Oh, absolutely. Riveting stuff," you reply sarcastically. "But next time you're more than welcome to take my place."

Just then, Zenitsu gasps dramatically, his eyes widening while all the attention goes to him. "Y/N! You look absolutely stunning!"

Inosuke grumbles in response, "Are you really gonna say that to every girl tonight?"

Zenitsu defends himself with a pout. "Well, it's true! I can't help it if everyone here is so good-looking!"

Giyu chimes in, grumbling, "That idiot even said it to me. I can't believe he thought I was a girl."

You and Mitsuri exchange a small grin, sharing the amusement of the moment. But Mitsuri then nods towards Sanemi, who's leaning against the wall nearby, listening to the conversation, and wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.

"Seriously," you roll your eyes as you whisper to her, "that's not gonna happen."

While the others continue to talk, you find a comfortable spot on the couch and take a seat. Mitsuri announces that she's going to put on a movie, and everyone begins to gather around. Inosuke declares he's in charge of getting snacks, but when he sees the romance movie that Mitsuri put on- with a backdrop of the Alps, he passes them all off to Obanai who just so happened to be standing right beside him at that moment.

Obanai then sits down beside you, offering you the snacks. Gratefully, you thank him and start digging in as the movie begins. But, on your other side, Uzui tries to steal some of your rightfully owned snacks. Not too keen on sharing, you playfully slap his hand away.

"Ow! Dammit, Y/N, I'm not some kind of demon. You don't need to hit my hand so hard," he whines.

In the background, you hear Sanemi mutter, "You don't need to steal other people's food."

"What was that? You got somethin' to say there, shorty?" Uzui shoots back. Genya then grumbles, confirming that Sanemi always does. You can see Sanemi's fists begin to tighten and you know he's trying his best to hold himself together.

Shinobu, sensing the brewing tension, stands up and intervenes, her voice firm but calm. "Enough. If you're going to talk, do it quietly. Nobody else wants to hear your bickering, and it's not fair to ruin the movie for everyone else."

Sanemi rolls his eyes, seemingly unbothered. "Fine, whatever."

"Yeah, stop talking, Y/N," Uzui whispers to you, taking advantage of the distraction before swiping another handful of snacks from your plate, a mischievous grin on his face.

You let out a playful groan, knowing Shinobu's disapproving gaze is fixed on you. "Alright, fine. But don't push your luck," you warn Uzui.

As the movie starts playing, you hear a soft sound of sniffling, and you look around to see if it's Himejima again. But surprisingly, it's Inosuke, tears streaming down from under his mask as he sobs uncontrollably.

"Are you alright?" Tanjiro asks, poking him gently.

Inosuke replies through his tears, "The movie, sniff, is just so beautiful!"

Zenitsu chimes in, completely thrown off guard, "But the two characters haven't even met yet!"

Inosuke wipes his tears and says, "The mountains," Inosuke then clarifies. "They're just so beautiful!"

Obanai, with a whisper, comments, "That's stupid. It may be a lovely sight, but crying over a movie seems pointless."

Curious, you turn to Obanai with a big teasing grin on your face, "Iguro, do you like the movie, too?" However, he doesn't answer, his attention elsewhere, only to backfire and answer your question without even opening his mouth.

Giyu interjects, reminding everyone, "Shinobu is right. We won't hear anything if you guys keep talking."

Uzui, never one to back down, then asks, "Are you always going to take Shinobu's side?"

Giyu's face lights up and he can't seem to find the words to reply so it's Shinobu who pipes up instead. "No, he never agrees with me."

Sanemi smirks and adds, "Now look who's talking."

Rengoku groans, feeling the tension rising once again, and says, "This is never going to work."

Obanai nods in agreement, seemingly uninterested in the ongoing banter. Mitsuri, eager to diffuse the situation, suggests, "Fine, let's do something else then."

The room falls silent for a moment as everyone ponders Mitsuri's suggestion. You all exchange glances, unsure of what to do next. Finally, someone speaks up, asking, "Like what?"
