18. Bad Blood

Andrea and I go out to breakfast the next day. Right away I notice cameras. I've already gotten pretty good at spotting them. I point them out to Andrea.

"It's fine. It's not like we're doing anything wrong. And all publicity is good publicity, right?"

Oh god. That's something Don would say.

"I'm not sure about that. I mean, look at these articles." I show her what Don sent me yesterday.

"Kacy Clark? Pregnant? Engagement? One Direction reunion? Lewis Capaldi? Us feuding? Diana, nobody's going to believe this stuff."

"Yeah, I know. I'm trying not to let it get to me." I say.

Andrea looks at the newest updates about me.

"Niall Horan and Diana Anderson have been supposedly dating for over a year

Jack Moore hints at breakup with Diana Anderson

Um- Andrea Wright and Diana Anderson spotted on date?"

The last article has pictures of us from a few minutes ago.

"Date? They make up everything." I say.

"Exactly. That's why you shouldn't worry about it."

"I know, but what if other people believe it?" I ask.

"Stop caring what everyone else thinks so much." Andrea says. "It doesn't affect you."

"Yeah-" Just then I see Kacy walk in. I hope she doesn't see me. I try to cover my face.

"What?" Andrea asks.

"Niall's girlfriend is here."

"Ooh, drama." She says.

"No drama. I'm not going to talk to her." Just as I say that, she walks over.

"Hi Diana!" She says, giving me a fake smile. "Mind if I sit down?"

Before I can respond, she sits down next to Andrea. "Would you mind moving?" She asks her.

Did she just ask Andrea to leave? I literally came with Andrea and Kacy just showed up uninvited.

"Hun, Diana is gonna tell me everything you say right now. I might as well stay." Andrea says.

"Fine, but it won't be pretty." Kacy says.

Great. I glance at the camera that's still there. Kacy follows my gaze and smiles and blows kisses to it.

"Anyway. I'm just going to get to the point." She says.

"Okay."

"Stay away from Niall." She says.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me! Stay away from him!" She's raising her voice.

"Why would I do that?" I ask.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because he's already in a relationship and you need to respect that." She says, rolling her eyes.

"I do respect it." I say flatly.

"Oh really? This doesn't look like it." She shows me a ton of pictures of me and Niall.

"Yes, do respect you. If I didn't, he'd be mine by now." When I say that, Kacy's jaw drops.

"Excuse me? What did you just say to me?"

"I said what I said. You're lucky I'm not single. Otherwise you would be."

Kacy looks like she could explode. Andrea, on the other hand, is living for it.

"Ugh! You're ruining everything!" Kacy yells. "If you never came along me and Niall would be fine! But you just had to mess it all up!"

"Kacy, if you and Niall were really doing that well, you wouldn't be threatened by me." I talk calmly, but I know my words cut deep.

"Ugh! I'm fighting with you, Diana! Just stay away!" Kacy yells and leaves. Luckily, the camera man follows her out. She's probably about to tell them something awful about me.

"...That was intense." Andrea says.

"Tell me about it." I say.

"I was ready to defend you, but I didn't even have to. You handled that like a queen."

"I don't know about that." I say. "Maybe I was a little too harsh on her."

"Well she was being a jerk. She had it coming." Andrea says.

"I don't know, I mean she is Niall's-"

"Diana." Andrea says. "Stop second guessing yourself. That was awesome."

I get a text.

"Oh great. It's from Don."

"Ooh, what is it?" Andrea says.

Don:
Diana Anderson and Kacy Clark cat fight in public

"Oh no. How do they publish these so fast?"

Andrea opens the article.

"Hey! I don't like to read those." I say.

"I just wanna see how bad it is." She begins reading, saying the important parts out loud.

"Kacy joined Diana for breakfast...Kacy was hostile towards her...raised their voices at each other...witnesses heard Niall Horan's name...Clark disengaged from fight...Kacy told the press afterwards 'Diana Anderson is a little b****. I don't know who she thinks she is. She has everyone wrapped around her little finger, but I'm here to stand up to her. I refuse to be treated like this.'"

"...Is that all?" I ask.

"Yeah, that's all the important stuff." Andrea says.

"I'm sure Don is loving this."

"He is." Andrea says, showing me what else he texted me.

Don: This is great! Check twitter

I reluctantly go to twitter. The hashtags #TeamKacy and #TeamDiana are trending.

"Good, #TeamDiana has more tweets." Andrea says.

"It's good, I guess. But I feel like all this drama is going to ruin my career. I don't trust Don's judgment."

Diana: are you sure this is good for my image?
Don: It doesn't matter. You just need attention. BTW, you're going to dinner with Jack tonight

Ugh, now I trust him even less.

"Wait." I say, something occurring to me.

"Wait what?" Andrea asks.

"What if Niall gets mad at me for this? I mean, that's his girlfriend. He's probably #TeamKacy or whatever."

"Seriously girl? You think that?"

"Yes! Why would he side with me over Kacy?"

"Diana. Use your brain." Andrea says.

"What do you mean?"
